Black ice everywhere; heck its tough just walking out there. But I should make 100 miles this month commuting with some luck.

Sunday Update:

I actually got out a bit this week.
12/17 - 1.9 miles - It was a nice day, and I clocked in at work early in order to head home a bit early and get some saddle time. Needless to say I didn't get the start I wanted, and the sun was going down. I didn't dress properly thinking it was still warmer, and the temp just dropped on me... I was so disgusted, I just went home and hit the exerbike.

12/20 - 4.5 miles w/the wife - It was very slow. She took me up on the part of the highway that has no shoulder whatsoever, and just tooled along... scared the crap outta me, but the city cop we passed at a light gave us a friendly wave. I think I impressed him when I stopped at
the light, but didn't drop a foot, lol!

Put in 125:00 on the exerbike... I'm trying to destroy the bearings

Finally, a nice road ride! I rode 20.4 miles in Oregon today. Washington uses salt and brine on the roads and my normal route is wet in the stuff. Oregon doesn't use salt, but gravel instead, which is a lot less damaging to bikes.

I rode from The Dalles, OR west to Rowena Crest, about 10 miles. There's a tough 2.4 mile climb near the turn around point that zig zags it's way up to the summit through dense trees and along tall cliffs. It's really something to see, and ride! I've got some pics below, taken in the summertime when I was riding that area on my motorcycle.

Goal: 250 miles
MTD: 109.8 miles

Getting down to the wire!

Glad I joined the thread this month. Normally I'd log at least 175 miles a month just commuting to work, but we've got a car borrowed this month (we're normally car-free) so that we can move to a different home on the other side of the city, and I've missed a number of days of riding between trying to save energy for moving another load after working all night and sometimes just plain being lazy. Between all that and having called in sick two days, I'm only at a whopping 91.2 miles for this month so far.

Even though we'll still have some moving and cleaning to do over the next week, thanks to this thread I'm extra motivated to ride at least one day so I can break 100 miles for the month!

Funny thing is, I actually prefer riding. Today the weather was just fine, and I would have rather ridden, but after working all night, I'm going to spend all day going through my storage space and then moving heavy tubs and boxes. I figured 15-20 miles of hilly riding on top of that was a bit much.

I went out this morning on an errand and to check out the roads. Much to my disappointment, the highway dept. decided to cover the road with even more salt. It's really ridiculous. I won't even ride my "junker" bike on a road with that much salt! I could have driven 27 miles to Oregon and ridden over there (where they don't use salt), but the rollers won out, today. I put in 15.5 miles in my basement.

Goal: 250 miles
MTD: 140.3 miles

I agree with the motivational benefit of participating in this thread. I would like to see a lot more Clydes join in and put in the miles with us!

So come on you slackers!! Next month will begin a new year, so why not get off the sofa, "belly up to the bar", and lose some weight and get in better shape. That's why you're here, right??

More miles on the rollers today, 14 to be exact. By the time it warms up a little bit, there's about an hour before the sun goes down. That doesn't allow much time for a ride outdoors.

Goal: 250 miles

Took advantage of a beautiful day for a nice post Christmas Day solo 48 mile out-n-back. Have all the kids back from university for the holidays and everyone came over to the house for Christmas dinner yesterday. Was really nice to get out by myself for a couple hours.

479 miles for the month and 11,083 for the year.
