It....Is......Time
First off....I want to introduce myself. My name is Steven and just got into cycling about a year ago. I have always liked riding, but really have started to get serious about it to lose weight on top of other things I am starting to do. Currently holding steady at 270 pounds, but I can remember the days of 200 pounds......those were the days.
Really, it has just been lack of exercise over the years on my part. I am excited to join this group and to be inspired by the work that you guys and gals are putting in. I currently ride some singletrack trails in the Philly area on my Cannondale Trail SL4, but am looking to get a road bike to change things up. Look forward to posting more here! If you want to start to follow along my journey I just started a blog (real original....I know) Fat Kid Cycling |
Welcome Steve. I know you will find a lot of friendly supportive people here.

I appreciate your couch to 5K post. I run 5K every morning, more on weekends. If it's practical, keep your runs on a morning schedule, the science seems to say you'll benefit more by doing so, From experience, I agree. Also, those Vibram Five Fingers? - you might re-think your footwear. If you are trail running in soft stuff ..fine, but if you are mixing it with asphalt I might suggest your seek out some decent padding, even if you prefer that low 4mm or less drop, as I do. I rotate through 3 different shoe designs depending on the terrain, and also to give the key impact points some rest/variety. Your legs and feet should never hurt when you come home, unless you are tempting marathon distances... or sprinting.
If you run regularly I think you'll find your bike hill climbing adventures will get much easier, faster. Good luck on your journey. |
