A Clyde no more...???
Following last December four coronary stent angioplasty, my weight went up to 210 pounds (from a pre-stent weight of about 205 pounds). The principal reason for the gain was that the doc told me no bike riding for the first 30 days following the procedure and only limited, short rides (30 or less miles) for the next 30 days after that. Although I tried eating better, I watched as the weight still creeped up.
Once the restrictions were off, I returned to riding in earnest. Finished the ADA's Tour de Cure Metric Century (I decided to do all the climbing of the regular century and skip the traffic sufferfest of the last 40 miles, just ask TrojanHorse, BeachGrad05 or PhotoJoe) and right after that I rode the "moderate" Cruisin' the Conejo ride. Slowly but surely I am getting back into my previous riding schedule. Last month, in spite of a few out of town business trips, I rode over 500 miles.
And the result from all of this riding?
Take a look at the attached picture (no laughing at my feet and toes please). For the past month I have been holding steady at around 190 pound and I feel great. (A big thanks to my cardiologist for getting me this far--incidentally, he is one of the co-inventor of the stent )
The question is, at 5'7" and 190 pounds, am I still not a Clyde? By way of comparison, Froome is 6'2" and weighs about 160 pounds. Regardless of my weight, however, I will always be a Clyde at heart.

I have no idea what those "color codes" were all about.
Thanks.

I had been thinking what a tough hombre I was, riding and climbing hills while experiencing chest pains, then I read the story below. That dude wins the ultimate HTFU Award.

Dang that's a scary story about the runner. Getting old is such a pain.
