Fastpitch Season Is Over + Facility Move

Hello all! During fastpitch softball season (I am a position coach, my daughter plays) I all but eliminate exercise. I'm building a business (doing well, thanks for asking) plus the coaching plus other things and something has to go and of course "me time" is what leaves. Each year when this would happen I'd gain 12-15lbs due to me always being in a ballpark, on the road, etc. Not a reason, just a weak excuse. Last year I went through the season and ended up losing a bit due to my new approach. This year I stayed even which is actually a huge win for me. Staying even is WAY better than the 12-15 gain so I'm happy. Prior to the season and after (now) I'm able to push forward to a more healthier version of myself, which included losing some weight (properly).

So..... this past Sunday we ended our season. The following Monday (two days ago) the company I work for (for now) moved facilities. The new facilities has a "good enough" workout facility plus a locker with showers. I was always able to take a shower at the old facility but it was sneaking back into a warehouse. Additionally it is much easier to get to the bike path now and I have several interesting directions I can go. Keeps things fresh.

So... I'm excited. I've really been itching to get on the bike consistently (I have been sneaking on here and there as I could) and progress.

During today's lunch I went 15.78 miles. I went a bit further than I wanted to during a lunch (and shower, etc) so I'll dial that back a bit. A few of the routes have some areas that look good for sprints so I'll work in some intervals every other day or so.

So excited....

I do that as well, good suggestion! My current facility has the shortest distance of 21.5 miles as a commute. After about one more week's worth of lunch rides I'll start doing one-way commutes. After a bit of that I'll do two-way commutes a few times a week.

My daughters play as well and my oldest just finished her college career this spring- if you're just now ending I wouldn't think it's college or high school. Are you a travel ball or rec ball coach?

Glad you're back in the saddle and good luck with the business !

Travel. Season ended Sunday, tryouts next weekend, fall ball with the selected team to be scheduled.

Additionally my daughter still plays school volleyball and basketball. I personally hopes she gives up basketball but it's her choice. I think she is doing too much but as she is just entering her Freshman year she will just now realize what "too much" means. I suspect she will give up her Winter sport and prepare for Softball. HS Softball is already prepared for but her summer schedule is much tougher.
