The Sunrise Century in Clarksville, TN on August 30 is my main goal for the month and it will be my first century. I'll need to stay with the program in training for it but I don't have a mileage goal in mind for the month.

8/1: 10 miles . Commute
8/2: 47 miles - Commute (10miles) + 37 miles along the towpath with the kiddo for our weekly ice cream ride. After the ice cream break at mile 18 (first stop) neither one of us was feeling too well (I think it was the heat) so we turned back. Of course not long after we got home we both were feeling better. She just asked if we could try riding 100 miles next weekend weather-permitting, I told her "we'll see" - first I'd have to map out a route second I haven't rode further than 64 miles. Maybe I'll plan for a overnight bike-camping trip, 50 miles each day.

MTD: 57 miles

New goal for August - Survive a 100 mile ride.

I love bike camping. It brings its own set of obstacles but it is a fun thing to do.

Us too. We've gone on a couple overnighters this year, I found this great campground only 25 miles away off of main/busy roads that has a backpacker special that we've rode to, camped over night and rode home the following day. The kinds of comments I heard from fellow campers when they see us ride to our site on bikes were priceless. We were going to take a bike camping tour last month but due to poor planning on my part it never happened, but I really hope we get a chance to do it next summer for her 10th birthday.

My goal isn't so much miles as it is hours. I'd like to get 7 hours a week in the saddle. That should put me right around 400 miles for the month. I'd also like to drop my weight down to 230lbs (Aug 1st weight was 241).

480+ miles this month
I had gout for 3 weeks in July. My goal is 120 miles per week. I would like to bust my tail and make up some of those missed miles.

One thing a co-worker of mine suggested (we ride at lunches) is to leave work at 5, bike about 26 miles to a local campground and then get up early and bike back in time to get ready for work. Leave our vehicles at work in the parking lot. That sounded fun so in two Thursdays that is what we are going to do.

Since it is just one night I am going to see how light I can pack and use my day pack. Water is at the campground so I won't have to carry too much of that. Shelter, food and a small bit of clothing. If it is warm it will work really well.

8/2 30 minutes on the trainer
8/3 83.63 miles

I had a good ride today and entertained thoughts of going for 100 today but I would have had to force it. I used my car as a rest stop at about 47 miles but I only stopped for about 5 minutes.

I'm starting to pick up my distances on each ride. Completed 274 miles in July, I'm shooting for 400 in August!

August is time to ramp up pre-season CX workouts and practice. Getting a little nervous about the coming season too. Moving up a class to race with the fast kids. Goals for the month:
* 500 miles on the CX bike (Sorry road and mtn bike you need to stay in the garage)
* Stop on the commute home at a park to practice dismounts
* Two lunch time 5k runs a week

8/1 work
8/2 flooding from rain
8/3 flooding from rain
8/4 work

Not so good start to the month. Really getting sick of the constant rain. I used a pool float to go out and get some tomatoes out of the garden.

I'm late to the party but my goal is 150 miles on the bike and 15 pounds down. It would put me close to 130 lbs in 300 days.

I had 110 miles last month and I think that I am going to shoot for 150 miles this month. I would like to be down 15 pounds this month as well. Just got back from some vacation and put on a couple pounds that I need to work off and make some progress past where I was before.
