So much to learn

I feel I have so much to learn.
Been back on the bike for almost a year and in 4 weeks will be completing my first century since returning to the bike.
I have been building up my miles with my Saturday ride and did 81 miles on Saturday. Felt so good that I went out yesterday for a 20 mile ride at pace. After the Saturday ride I ate what I normally did and really after the ride didn't feel that hungry.
Well last night is just couldn't sleep and I was hungry. Ended up falling asleep at 2am. While awake I read that this can be due to the bodies stress after a long ride.
Is this something that gets better with time. How do you better regulate eating because I listened to my body and I wasnt hungry then I felt like I was starving.
While I was awake thinking I will never be fast and read up on Brevets.
Hoping I can figure the eating stuff and sleep shortly. Just glad it was a long weekend.

Relax. How your body responds to an increase in workload can be unpredictable.

In my own case, I try to eat something small, involving carbs and protein, immediately after a hard session. My favourite recovery meal is a sardine sandwich. (your mileage will almost certainly vary!) Then I have a full meal a couple of hours later.

What works for you may differ. Just experiment.
