A Marathon
My rides are usually 12-15mi, today I kept on peddling. It's not that I'm tired, I ride solo so I get bored. Today I just continued probably because there were a lot of other riders out and about...

Great job, it's not very difficult, just a matter of spinning the cranks.
You may want to consider joining a bike club or finding a meetup group in your area so that you can meet other riders, maybe find one or two others that ride at your pace. If you're not comfortable turning cycling into a social sport, perhaps just find destinations x miles away to ride to. Or better yet, I presume you are doing an out and back ride, which to me would explain why it gets boring, try doing a loop so your entire ride is different.

Why do you ride?
What do you want to accomplish?
Mile/month challenge?
Perhaps a metric in X amount of time, then train for that?
A riding partner helps immensely! Perhaps someone on the board is nearby?
Tracking metrics and challenging yourself helps!
I use Garmin into connect, and Strava. I've put up a workout log.
Strava is worth mentioning twice. I compare rides and look at the data on how to improve. Also compare rides to see how I'm progressing.
