Clydesdale No More!
This morning, my scale read 199.1! Thus achieving a major milestone in my journey from 284 lbs and Type II Diabetes with an A1C that maxed-out meds only kept in the ~8 range, a year and a half ago. For 6 months, mainly diet got me to 250, and a level where I could at least begin an exercise regimen. This year, first with predominantly swimming, and then as the weather cooled and my weight got below 225, getting back on the bike for the first time in nearly 25 years about 3 months ago, I've gotten below 200 pounds for the first time since my mid-thirties (I'll be 55 next month).
Now, I am on much lower dosages of Metformin, I am no longer taking a Sulfonyurea, and my last A1C test result was 5.6
My eventual goal is to settle somewhere in the vicinity of 155 - 160 lbs and keep it there.

Great job. You must feel so much better - thanks for being an inspiration.

Congrats! Keep it up and perhaps someday you'll be able to kick those prescriptions out of your life for good.

I'm in awe, @D1andonlyDman -
I hope to follow in your pedal cleats! I started this year @ 285 with an A1C of 7. I'm now down to 265. I haven't been below 200 since high school, and with my 6'3" frame, I don't expect to get there again. However, I'd be VERY happy to get to 235...
Merry Christmas to you & yours & thanks for sharing this story.

Congratulations, sir! I'm also 55, and I have been right around 200 for too long now. You are an inspiration to other old coots.

Congrats, however, remember you have reached a milestone, not your GOAL. So remember, don't let up and start to think you deserve a reward. That can be disasterous and start an upward trend. Stay focused until you reach your final GOAL.

Congrats! Keep the trend going. Due to weight loss and exercise I have been able to kick my drug habit. Got rid of metformin plus a statin. Still on BP meds though. Hats off to you and Bill for dropping below 200! I will get there before next summer but doubt I'll ever catch y'all.

Congrats! That is awesome! I started my weight loss in March this year at 250. Discovered cycling about 225, and am now in the 212-215 range, and have been for a few months. Posts like your's inspire me to keep going when I hit the plateaus!

Got under 198 this morning, and under 196.5 after my daily ride. It's been 5 days since I've seen the wrong side of the 200 mark.
