The reason I ask is that when I got my Roubaix, it came with a 16 count, 2.0 mm spoke, radial laced wheel. I remember thinking it was kind of harsh. For other reasons I ended up on a 32 count, double butted 2.0/1.5mm spoke, 3 cross front wheel and I didn't notice at the time, but the harshness went away when I changed to that wheel. This week I had to return to the stock 16 spoke, radial laced front wheel to the bike for one ride and that harshness was back big time.

The forum experts say I'm crazy if I think I noticed a difference, but there was one. Just some anecdotal info to keep in mind as you make your decision.

Go with a hand built set and dont look back, I think that a wheel with a higher spoke count gives you a nice ride. Velocity A23 or the Dyad. Just my 2 cents and I weigh 280.

Jarrett: I'm definitely with you. I noticed a difference right away. I know my mavics are known for having high spoke tension too which I think adds to the harshness. I'm hoping my experience ends up being similar to yours.

Right now I'm on 25c tires and I'm going to switch to 28c tubeless when these tires are worn.

I think I'm well set on velocity a23 rims laced 32 spokes onto ultegra hubs from velomine. There's someone interested in purchasing my Mavics too so it should be a wash. Very much looking forward to the better ride of the velocity set.

Thank you for your suggestions fellas. :-)

Sorry, should have quoted adefeatedman, was wondering if lower spoke count, yet less forgiving ride feel could have been due to different tires/sizes...
