Right now, it's at City Hall at 5am. I don't think that's set in stone yet, though. Things are evolving. Their FB page is where they're updating info.

So, let's do the math. Start at 5am. It's 23 miles, so let's call it a 2-hour ride. You're done by 7. Assuming you parked in Santa Monica and rode to the start, you could easily make the 2-hour drive to Redlands after the ride. So, where's the problem?

Well, these things always take longer than you'd think they should, and of course, I'll be riding with you.

The sad thing is, I'm in LA this weekend and would be really tempted to do this if I wasn't 2500miles away from my bike. Oh and working.

Tempting, but I don't think I can get the time to go down and get the bike. I'll investigate places nearer where I'm staying. My free time is against me, but I'd love to ride through LA at night.

So meeting up at 5? I hear the marathon is getting bumped up an extra 30 min. Will that effect us?

I think 5 is a good time. And yes, they're moving up the marathon. What that means, I don't know yet, other than they have cut out the downtown loop. Heading West right off the bat. I think we'll be ok.

I'm most likely going to take the Red Line back to North Hollywood, but this is the route I intend to take back to Wilshire & Vermont: https://www.strava.com/routes/1561290

EDIT: Here's a GPX

Cool. I don't plan on going to the beach party. I'll be heading back from Santa Monica.

t x - by the fact that you mapped the return from Docweiler, I assume you're going to the after-party?

Why don't we call the meetup at 5am at the NW Corner of Sunset and Vermont. I'm parking in that building, t x can take the train right to that building and r8dr, that's far enough from the start that you can get dropped there (or very nearby). Does that work for everyone. I'm open to adjusting as anyone sees fit.

It looks like Dockweiler might be changing, so I'm not sure about that, but the 5am @ Sunset & Vermont sounds good to me.

I'm not married to any specific route heading back, but had sort of mapped this out:

LA Marathon Crash - Possible Route - LA, CA

It uses some bike lanes, but I'm open to suggestions. Plus, I may have the return trip on some roads that are closed (Wilshire specifically), so there may have to be some creativity, but I know the area well enough to get us back if we have to improvise a bit.

Looking at the marathon route we would be meeting and parking south of the route. Might we encounter road closures? Im driving out there now and looking for a spot to park. Im tryng to stay north of the route which gors thru hollywood blvd. the meet spot sounds fine im just not sure where to park so i dont get blocked in when we get back.
