Dude, roll with it you've had a rough spell recently...

the realization I had, was my kids do what I do, not what I say...

so I gotta live the way I'd have them do... The way they'd like to...
so I have to live the way I want, so they'll live the way they want...

but you've had a rough bit, and that has to be allowed for, cause well, it must...

and frankly, objectively you're doing great in the longer time frame, and that matters a whole heck of a lot...

Thanks. I got off my flow and then my bike was taken and I allowed that to keep me off. However I did stay somewhat consistent with activity meaning some walks, some hikes, a weight training regimen that I started, etc.

Yes, stolen. Off my bike rack on the back of my Jeep. I didn't have it locked to the rack and went into a larger store and when I came out it was gone. The store cameras did capture some vague things but nothing that was useful. I now have a lock that would at least slow someone down and most likely cause them to have to take the rack plus bike.

It was insured. It falls under what I pay to have my kayaks, bikes, outdoor stuff, things like that. I got "replacement value" which didn't quite cover it but it was enough.

It was the Raleigh. I got the same brand and model back so I will just leave the page as is and continue on. Only a few people on FB even know it was taken. I should have gotten him a phone so he could send photos of his new house.

Possibly, but it's gone now. If they would be so kind as to return it for a bit I could install something. Like a 9mm.

Alright I've picked out my cadence/speed sensor and probably my hr sensor. I've downloaded zwift to give it a try when it all arrives. If I feel I'll follow through I'll look seriously at BKool or another.

Hey Mike, glad you're back. Sorry to hear about your Raleigh, that sucks man but it happens to all of us at some point. I'm happy to read that you got a replacement, I assume another Revenio 2?

Anyway, planning another big fall century this year? I'm riding my first 100 miles tomorrow, assuming we don't get any more rain (looks like as of now there's a 10% chance). High temp of 58, partly sunny skies, little wind. Doesn't seem like anything could go wrong. Well, except for the fact that I haven't been on my bike more than 5 times over the past month :O

I'm not riding a fall century as my prep went away with the absence of my bike. I COULD had used my other bike but I allowed it all to be an excuse to not ride.

Can't wait to read the report on how your century went. It always seems that the closer one gets to an event the less bike time one has. Hopefully you make it through with little suffering.

Speed/Cadence sensor and ANT+ dongle out for delivery. If it arrives in time I'll do a trainer with Zwift ride to try it out.

Delivered! I'm so excited I'm skipping my outdoor ride and will use the trainer tonight. I'd rather make sure it all going to stay attached while in one place first.

Alright normally I'm a fairly calm person. I've worked hard to be that way because I've had a bit of a temper at time. However today I got worked up. I finally stopped being mad a ways back and got my bike replaced. The bike shop I originally got my bike from is a distance from me and they worked hard to get me a replacement. I didn't want the new model, I wanted what I had. They got it. Or course they got a sale out of the deal but even so they worked hard to get me the year and condition I "needed". The bike shop that I got it from got it in and I ran down there. They guy had it up on the holder thing and ran it through operational things to make sure it worked, sounded good when it shirted, etc. He was going to give it a tuning but I told him "no" because I had a tuning on a service plan to still burn at a place closer to my house. I had to use it or lose it.

So before riding my bike I dropped it off to be serviced. I picked it up this past Friday and took it home and finished researching cadence, speed, etc. sensors and got it ordered. It was my anniversary weekend so I didn't plan on riding until Sunday MAYBE Saturday but that didn't work out. Amazon order arrived Sunday so I figured I'd just do a trainer ride to tray all that out. Got the sensors installed, bike taken into the basement, trainer tire on, area cleaned up, laptop with Zwift loaded (and synced) in front of me and ...... my bike won't shift into the big ring. I stop and look at things and check the simple items and nothing. If I hold the left shifter down it will stay on the big ring but when I release it goes to the small ring. Dang.

I suck and bike repairs. I leave that to the bike store and learn a little here and there. Had not got into derailer adjustment. Hello youtube. I take the bike BACK OUT of the basement and put it on the bike rack on the rear of my Jeep so I have a "stand" to work on. I do all the youtube adjustments and actually learn a little something but nothing works. I try some now shaky things and I probably adjusted the bike out of all chances to function. By now I am pissed off. How can a bike place allow a bike to get off the stand after a tuneup when it won't even stay in the big ring? Could I have done this while changing to my trainer rim/tire?

Now I have to run it down there tomorrow and pick it up later this week. If the bike place works hard to take care of it, like they should, I'm ok. If they don't I may explode. I would actually rather them tell me that I messed it up by doing "xxxx" as I really just can't understand how my bike left the shop in the condition that I did. Should I have ran it through its paces before I left? You can bet I'll check the basic from now on.

OK I'm done. Tomorrow I'll take it to the shop and they will take care of it and all will be well.

Carry on.

Rode my trainer setup last night for the first time this year. Stopped and started a few times while adjusting this or that. Rode for a total of just over 20 minutes 6.5 miles.

A few things about riding the trainer:
- It's more difficult. As I found out last year and many of you know there is not much coasting. Estimates by various people range from an indoor ride being about 1.25x to 1.5x harder than outdoors. No idea of the actual number but I can say that many factors contribute. First is the actual physical effort. Second is the mental issue. Thirdly and related to physical effort is there is no air movement to take care of some sweat therefore lending to being hotter than normal.

- I need a fan to take care of some sweat. See above.

- I like my setup with netflix on one monitor and my virtual simulations on the other. I'll go music some days. WHATEVER I have to do to overcome the "this sucks" attitude I have about it.

- I have a cadence sensor now and the first place I used it was on the trainer last night. My cadence is nowhere near the magical 80-100 range. I'm a traditional masher but I'm going to work on increasing my spin. A trainer is a good time to work on those things I would think. It will be interesting to see if I can become comfortable at a higher spin and if my body accepts it.

- I'm going to work on getting a few people on the same virtual program and try to have us all use the power of social to keep on it.

Tomorrow I bring my bike back into work and ride during the normal lunch time. During my ride I think I will focus on whatever speed I have to be at in order to maintain a higher cadence. I don't have a heart rate monitor yet so I'll just try and count the spots pulsing in my eyes as my heart nears failure.
