Found this chain mixed in with the paving asphalt - it was a recent patch. Looks like it was from a chainsaw. It must've dropped into the hot tar bucket at some point and the pavers must've seen it coming out and decided to just leave it in there rather than picking it out.

That's a chainsaw chain, and it certainly showed up after the road crew was gone. If it was there when they dropped the tar, there would be tar in the chain links.

That looks like it just fell there and got mashed into the patch by cars driving over it.

I found a whole bike once! Well, when I say whole...

-Wheels were horrendously bent
-Seatpost was snapped in half
-Rear mech was just...gone
-Frame was rusted beyond recognition.

If the bike was in that bad of shape, the dude that formerly rode that bike musta been tore up!!!!

I seem to find a lot of eyeglasses. I found one pair of funky sunglasses (rectangular blue lenses with gold frames) that I used as an accessory for a halloween costume!

This morning: a pair of Canadian geese walking right down the middle one of the dirt roads I ride, one at the front and one picking up the rear of a line of 8 ducklings. I was a little concerned about getting nipped, but they let me slide by and continued on their way.

LOL I thought of that but it was only about five bucks and he did phone and leave a message for the guy while I was there.

A Bell bicycle seat cover, a blue bungee cord and a refridgerator magnet that reads in large letters "F**K YEAH". Also, one morning a pick up truck pulled out of a side street ahead and some items fell off the back. A clipboard, headphnes and something in a fancy leather case that was too big to be a phone and too small to be a computer. Managed to kick items to curb before an approaching truck flattened them. Traced the owner through a print out copy of an email transaction that was attached to clipboard and he got the items back within two hours after he had lost them and had frantically drove back to his house three times. He was grateful and insisted I take a twenty but taking the twenty didn't seem right. When your day starts off wrong...it shouldn't cost you a twenty on top of it all. Two other items worth mentioning....a pair of surgical scissors and a tiny electronic device. No time to turn around for scissors...they can wait. The tiny device I missed because I went by too fast...and the next day it was gone. It looked like a T.V. set no bigger than a silver dollar. It was facing me as I rode by and there were numbers on the screen. It was still alive after having been tossed out a car window or accidently dropped from another bicycle. Or perhaps dropped from a UFO. Either or, I can't recall the numbers...but I'm sure they're hidden somewhere in my subconscious mind. Could be winning lottery ticket numbers for all I know.

I found this 20 mm ball bearing on the side of the road. I seem to always find something!

Found a pair of tinted safety glasses this morning, dirty but in good shape. By coincidence, I had forgotten to pack mine for the afternoon ride home.

I have found lots of things here in my neck of the woods in Brooklyn, hey it's the city, people those good electronics out all the time. Last thing I found was a 32" LCD HDTV which just needed a power supply board, I picked one up on ebay for $30 and sold the TV for $70. Sometimes I just do the replacing of the capacitors myself but right now I need a new soldering iron. Things used to be better but now with the law they passed that all electronics have to taken to a recycle center or call 311 and make some arrangement to have what you have picked up, you don't see as much as before. My quote for the day, "Time changes everything".

A month ago or so, I got home and noticed my chain lube was no longer in my backpack's side pocket. A few days later, I came to stop at an intersection. I put my foot down on the curb and just happened to look down; there was my chain lube, right at the corner of the intersection.

Lost my glasses last year exactly in the same manner...never found those though. A number of years ago on my commute to school, I found a completely nude woman walking down median.

I seen a camcorder sitting on the side of the highway for around 2-3 weeks. Was tempted to pick it up as I passed it each ride but at the same time was afraid of what I might find if there was anything recorded on it... and who needs a camcorder in the age of smartphones.

Lot of straps, wrenches, and firewood (lots of resorts and lakes around here).
