5 minute shower?

I have always wondered how one can do the whole shower/change thing in 5 minutes. That's less time for me to wash my hair

And yet before I finishing putting the shampoo the soap, a guy comes in, takes his shower, changes his clothes, and out he goes, less than 5 minutes! amazing!

They must be just be taking a shower without shampoo or soap, right? How can anyone do the shower routine in less than 5 minutes?

Worse for me -- so I tried to do it as soon as possible -- like 10/15 minutes. And afterwards, I will still sweat

I am the same as you. I take roughly 15 minute showers in the morning. If I shower in the evening I can cut it down to 7-10 minutes, but that's only when I'm trying. To take an actual "5 minute shower" I need to hustle and physically try to shower as quickly as possible.

I'm always cold, I really enjoy hot showers, so I tend to take my time.

I'm quick, shampoo in the hair, soap in the smelly bits, rinse and done. Probably less than 5 minutes.

Get wet, lather up, rinse off, dry. How does that have to take so long? How long does it take you to do each step? Break it down, find the problem and solve it. We are here to help.

Maybe these people have lived in places where water, especially hot water, was in short supply for showering and learned how to get the job done quickly.

As George Carlin said, " There are only 5 areas you need to wash daily: Armpits, A__, crotch, and teeth. Do 'em in the right order and you can use the same brush!"

Just be firm and straight to the point. 5 min is enough if your in a hurry or don't want to waste water. Within 10 seconds of opening the water you should already be applying shampoo to your hair. 30 seconds in you should be done with your hair. Now do arm pits, crotch and back. That should be another 30 seconds. Finally rinse it all off for another 20 sec. That's less than 1 min if you don't waste time fiddling around. 5 minutes is more than enough.

Try lathering everything at once, and rinsing at once. It takes more time to wash the face, rinse the face, wash the arms, rinse the arms, ect...5 mins from warm water to towel shouldn't present a problem.

I always wondered how slow people have to move to take 15 minutes to shower.

I enjoy a warm shower as much as the next person but have no problem showering in under 5 min if I have a meeting. Shampoo in hair, use that as soap for the rest of me. I get sweaty not dirty.

The fastest I've ever showered was 5 min. or under, when my roommate (yes, I cursed him at the time) said this girl was arriving in 5 min. to meet us.

Submarine shower technique is what we called it. Wet yourself quickly, turn water off, apply shampoo and soap, rinse off. Done. You risk leaving more shampoo/soap than usual on your body because of the quick rinse, but this is the speed at all costs scenario.

Australia has had to do something similar to 5 minute showers during drought. I live in New Mexico. We've had drought for some time. I take one long shower (15 minutes) a week, usually. Daily showers are about 5 minutes. I keep what hair I have left short.

Yep, this is what I had to do aboard ship and I've been taking Navy showers ever since. Work systematically and you can easily be out in 5 minutes. Because of my dislike for wasting water, I avoid warming the water first and just let it warm as I rinse. In winter this really speeds me up.

I generally shower in less than 5 minutes. Being nearly bald helps because washing my scalp takes about 15 seconds max, and I can dry "hair" in less time than that.

Man, you guys are awesome. It seems like I can try harder But to be honest, I actually enjoy taking a longer shower, it's a time to relax for me. It's like getting a physical therapy after a hard workout I count my shower part of the commute time, door to door from my home to the office. I am trying to make a faster commute , and leave more time for family.

Well, this is a lot different than how I interpreted your original post.

So since you don't want to leave earlier and you don't really want to know how to take a shorter shower, you must either ride faster or live with things the way they are.

I don't understand how someone can take more than about 5 minutes to shower. I mean, you cover yourself with soap while rubbing a bit, then you rinse and you're done. Hair, you put a teaspoon of shampoo on your hands, spend 30 seconds rubbing it in, then let it sit while you wash the rest of yourself (I find this does a MUCH better job than rinsing it out immediately), then rinse with the rest of yourself.

Funny enough, someone at work actually timed me once, apparently she was amazed at how fast I was and wanted to see if it wasn't just her imagination. I was chatting with her on IM in the morning while cooling down after my commute and said "Well I have to go shower, be back in 7 minutes." 7 minutes because in the morning I also shave in the shower, it'd be 5 if not. She said it was between 7 and 8 minutes later when I typed "OK I'm back."

Easy:
1. Rinse head - 30 sec.
2. Apply shampoo to hair and scrub with fingers - 1 min.
3. transfer that same lather to rest of body - 1 min.
4. Rinse everything - 1 Min.
