NOW I have Seen Everything
While riding home from work last night I saw a motorist with an out-of-state vanity plate that read "BICYCLE" buzz a cyclist while he (the motorist) was playing with his phone.
And then there is this: Motorist's video shows Indego bicyclists using I-676 |
I ride through the city of Philadelphia but I’d never ride on I-676. There’s just something about being potentially mashed into the concrete wall that doesn’t appeal to me.

And there are two of them! One would think at least one of them would think this a bad idea.

Strength in numbers!!!!!!!!!

Hey, Philly is known for motorists driving on railroad tracks, so what's the big deal with cyclists on the freeway?
|
And the finalists for this years Darwin Award are.....
Bikes aren't prohibited on that road? |
does philly have a bikeshare program? those look like bikeshare type bikes. That's kinda my one main concern with bike sharing. People are clueless enough about most aspects of life. Now take someone who probably hasn't ridden since they were on a rusty youth bike, who only knows "I see cyclists take the lane all the time, oh, here's the onramp. Let's go!" and half of their already limited brain power is taken up by not falling off of a moving bicycle, you can't ask for much.
|
I once saw a car carrying a bicycle cutting off a couple of cyclists who had the right of way. Such irony.
the "Indego" in the title of the article is the name of Philly's bike share program |
we often have threads on here stereotyping some kind of vehicle or another, but I swear the worst thing is to be passed by a car with bikes on the back.

A motorist, with a bicycle mounted to his car, yelled at me through his window to get off the street and use a bike path. Admittedly I was on the road immediately next to a major bike path in an urban area. And here’s why: I’m not going to yield the right of way every couple hundred feet. On the road I have the right of way. On the bike path I would have to stop at every intersection.
There’s all kind of cyclists out there. I’m a ride from my front door kind of guy, even on multi-day tours. Rarely do I attach bicycles to my car. I always feel badly for cyclists who feel the need to drive a few miles through suburbia to use a bike path. |
@TheReal Houdini
the more I commute the more I find myself in the same situation. I feel weird loading up the bike to go mountain biking now a days. |
Sometimes when I'm riding somewhere on my bike I will think about the route as if I were a car, forgetting I'm on a bike, although I wouldn't end up on the highway. And sometimes when driving I'll choose a route as if I were on the bike. Once again, I usually catch myself fairly quickly.

This past Sunday in Toronto, the Brazilian cycling team mistakenly made their way onto the Don Valley Parkway, an intracity highway. They had to be escorted off by the police.

Wow. That's terrifying.

augh that's sad

I think the worst was the state trooper with a "3 feet" bumper sticker passing the guy in front of me and almost scraping him into the guard rail with his rear bumper...
