Zero per Gallon patch $0.00

Where can one get such a patch?

Dunno!

But you might contact this guy:

http://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vi...ylor-more.html

He may know someone who could make such patches. Custom embroidery of that kind isn't that expensive, especially if you order a goodish number.

I believe it's a sticker:

Cute.

Of course, it does say you are paying 9/10 of a cent...

And it doesn't make any sense in that it's not that you aren't paying much for gas, you aren't using any gas.

I think zero gallons/mile is a better message.

Not sure who your audience is or what message you are attempting to convey. I don't generally like bumper stickers or such similar means of communicating. The intent is unclear or even antagonistic to others.

I think whoever designed it thought they were depicting zero money for gas in a catchy way since gas price signs are so recognizable.

It should read $0.00-0/10...

It's called irony.

Round down.

Yeah, mathematically I prefer stuff like this:

and already own the shirt. ;)

You're kidding right? If this is the case I guess my PC gene is broken - and I'm glad it is.

How about grease and chainlube consumed ? its more than zero . Butyl Rubber tires, tubes are oil based, and ..

there is the fuel for ships and trucks moving the boxes around the globe from the factories ,

and there is a lot of petro-plastics and paper per bike

into the waste stream.

as to the patch, there are companies making those from an Image you supply . G'gl that.

Stop dividing by 0. Its undefined MPG not infinity.

Gas is consumed at some point along the production of the bicycle and consumed to supply the cyclist with his needs to ride the bicycle. So the gas consumed is not zero, but is approaching zero.

bmthom.gis 08-27-15 11:36 AM

Blurg, Waltz used to have a cycling cap similar...had a picture of a gas pump with it crossed out a la Ghostbusters style. Can't find it on their website anymore, so I guess it was a limited run production. Bummer! I saw it, then forgot about it until this post.

By that logic, you would need to factor in the production costs of automobiles when quoting their MPGs. When people speak about their car's gas mileage, they are referring to how much fuel it consumes from driving it not from all phases of its production.

This. And, if we include the need for food--call that roughly 25 calories per mile--I'd argue it's not really anywhere near zero. But, it is less than driving a car.

Wow, some of you guys are intense. All I asked is where one could get a patch, god forbid it had any political connotations, my goodness. :crash:

Actually, I'm not kidding. If you are trying to piss off car drivers by saying "Ha Ha, you are paying for gas, and I'm not", then your intent is to antagonize. Not sure I want to make car drivers angrier than they already are. What exactly is the point of this?

Saying the mpg is infinity is perfectly reasonable because the limit as the gas consumed goes to zero is indeed described as infinity. Depends on how careful you want to be about your limit being a real number. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limit_...nfinite_limits

I guess some folks just see the glass as being half empty (perhaps the media has done that to many folks), but at 56 I can't be overly worried about that, I just try to see the glass as half full. To me it just means 'I am' saving gas, getting exercise and enjoying my riding time - nothing more nothing less. The thought never crossed my mind that it said anything negative to anyone in a car, especially since I own two cars, a scooter and a Triumph motorcycle.

If we allow our lives to be controlled by what others think or say then we end up living their lives and not our own, especially when there was no harm intended.

Now, where can I get this patch?

You are telling car drivers they are entitled to the road, since they are paying for it through gas taxes.

This is shaping up to possibly be the best thread, ever.
