poll: best color for beater commuter( winter) bike
doing a rebuild on my beater commuter bike and am gonna do a repaint.... it is currently black, but I am thinking about another color......here is the bike I am using in stock.........
the decals have been painted over and it has been converted to single speed for winter reliability.... it is currently stripped down to just the frame and the paint is in pretty rough shape

My winter beater bike is silver. It is a old Motobecane super mirage frame that I bought for $20 and built up with parts i had laying around.

Not sure whether bike color relates to visibility or safety, so I'm ruling that out. Thus I would have voted "other". Slushy grey with black flecks is the best color for a year-round commuter. Doesn't show dirt.

No grey?
That's what I'd choose. I just mounted black fenders (Handsome Cycles, Mud Butlers) and noted the that road grime from the rain on the black stays was a light grey color and was thinking to myself that would be the color to make it look like your bike wasn't really dirty, despite the fact it was!

Bikes: This list got too long: several ‘bents, an urban utility e-bike, and a dahon D7 that my daughter has absconded with.

It really doesn't matter. It will be "mud" coloured by the end of winter no matter what you do (except, maybe, wash it. . . nah, no one does that).
