I have to ask. What are you asking for Santa to bring you? (Bicycle commuting that is.) Everyone has been good, right?

i asked for some thermal tights. and non-thermal tights.

i'm asking uncle sam for a new bike around March...

I'm getting cash lol. I asked for it though, because next week I'll be visiting the capital and first stop on my list is a street filled with cycling stores. I'm hoping to get new lights (currently have blinkies), a new helmet, fingerless gloves, a pannier maybe :D

Something I don't need, but I want: a new headlight twice as bright (80 lux) because it was on sale. Now I have to decide whether to put it on the usual commute bike with the older 40 lux light, or the backup/rain/brevet bike with the 60 lux light. Tough decision, but somebody's got to make it!

Not much cycling stuff for me. For my wife there are a pair of Pearl Izumi cysling shoes, a pair of clipless, campus, pedals, an indoor trainer for her trike, and some lights.

Trike indoor trainer? Never heard of such a thing, how does that work?

New pedals (Shimano 530SPD Sport), I think.

No bicycling stuff for me this year, but I'm excited about having bought my 9-year old son his first, full-sized bike. He's gone through 3 child-sized bikes already: a 12" wheel cheapo BMX, a 16" wheel cheapo BMX, a KHS Raptor which had 20" wheels, and the worst crank ever. This time he is getting an extra small GT Backwoods Sport (GT Backwoods Sport Mountain Bike - Performance Exclusive). I'm hoping this one will last at least 5 years. The Raptor was barely 6 months old when my son bent the chain ring. The crank was a speciality, one-piece crank that was too expensive to replace so, the child has had to live with the chain falling off at random times for a year. It was too unreliable for me to teach him to ride on the road. The new bike is so much fun, I'm thinking about buying one for myself!

Had food drink and good times on Boxing day with friends .. @ their House...

I'm jewish, but growing up my best friend was catholic. When I was 9 we added a family room to the house complete with a fireplace. When Christmas rolled around my friend, Steve, persuaded me to hang a stocking. After all, Santa rewards those who have been good; it doesn't say they can't be jewish. When I got home, I asked my mom who I would go about hanging a sticking by the fireplace and she was not amused. How dare you even consider it, she chided me. My dad came home, we ate dinner and I went to my room to read. A short while later my folks both came in and said since it was the first Christmas with a fireplace in the house, I should go ahead and hang a stocking and see what happens. So I took and old sock and some duct tape and hung it up over the fireplace. My siblings declined to join me. In the morning I hurried downstairs and lo, and behold, there was something filling the sock, and some wrapping paper poking out of the top. I grabbed the sock, reached in and pulled out a lump of coal, well a charcoal brickette. Attatched was a card that read, "Ho, Ho, Ho! Nice jewish boys shouldn't try to fool Santa!"

Anyways, last year my wife earmarked some money for me to buy a new bike since I never buy anything for myself. THis year I'm looking at a new kickstand and frame pump. I'm just a simple guy.

Wow, hard lesson. On the other hand, my daughter has been sleeping downstairs by the fireplace for many years now. Getting up at 2:00 in the morning on Christmas to fill the stockings without waking her up kinda sucks. ;-)

She's 12 for cripes sake! I think she's figured it out though. She probably did years ago but she enjoys torturing her Dad so it wouldn't surprise me if she's been watching me stumble around filling stockings for the last 3 years. I could put a bottle of bike wash in her stocking but I already gave her some for her birthday (it's a running joke). I reap what I sow I guess.

nothing for me ... my wife might be getting neoprene gloves (more for her 2-3 hr training runs than for her winter riding) and my daughter might be getting pink illuminite gloves for commuting, though.

If I knew that I'd have to fire him!

I had hoped, but...

I received a really nice bonus from work this year, and I got the green light from my real boss to order a new bike with some of the money. I'm leaning heavily in favor of the Electra Loft 7i, but I'm not 100% sold on it yet. Other than that, I haven't a clue what I'm getting.

I gave toddler a Strider bike.

SWMBO bought me a M592 rear derailleur off my wish list so I can lower the gearing on my commuter bike, or maybe replace the wobbly old Acera on my MTB.

BIL got me a little Sunlite front rack also from my wish list that I wanted to try on my commuter bike.

MIL got me a little folding charcoal grill. "You can use it on bike rides!" she says. :lol:

Have been my own Santa. Flogged my credit card..

A pair of ski mittens that cost over $100. Did not know such things existed. But I hate cold hands. Rack and panniers made for modern MTB's with interfering disc brakes. And a bell.

My in laws bought me a Topeak Morph bike pump! :thumb: My wife/ I bought some Ortlieb Panniers! I might get to test them out Monday- Tuesday of this week.

Bar mitts, got them, looking forward to using them.

no testing of the panniers, yet. i did open and set them up last night with the intention of riding but 42F, pouring rain, and 10-20mph winds persuaded me to drive instead of ride today!
