Polyester Pants won't wear holes?

I having been riding with a cheap ebay Polyester + Spandex cycling tights for more than 7 months. And so far, no holes yet at the bottom. So is polyester the solution for holes in pants? I want to wear regular pants but don't want to damage them...

I wear the knees out before the posterior of my jeans.

Yes. You've discovered one answer that seems to work for you. Others ride with whatever casual pants without too much saddle wear issues, though. Maybe experiment with some other pants to see?

As to regular pants. If one must pedal in pants, try something like work n gear or dickies, the ploy blend twill ones.

I've ridden jeans to work for the past 5 years. Only one pair (out of a half dozen or so) shows any sort of... posterior degradation. Then again, I'm a light person and I'm light on the saddle. And when I AM on the saddle, I don't move much.
