I signed up before looking at the weather forecast... Good time to test the rain gear I suppose.

I signed up and am glad it is not supposed to rain because my commuter is jacked up. ( I messed the cantilever brakes up and now I can't get them right)

Made it in this morning. Strong headwinds but no rain. See what happens this afternoon for the ride home.

Nah, didn't make it to work by bike today. I do have to run over to a shop to buy some shift and brake cables..so I guess I'll strava up for that. Planning on a Fred Ride tonight, anyway.

I'm sorry, but unless it is red, the bike is slow. All speed is done with your own power. However, if it is red, it's scientifically proven that the bike itself is fast.

18.5 miles into work today... new personal record by 3 minutes and even into a wind. Decided to perform interval training on my morning commutes 2 times a week. Now if I could maintain 18+ mph my entire ride Legs are a little toast so evening commute should be interesting.

I don't usually track my rides but I used Strava this morning to be counted. I'm sure this is probably common sense to everyone else but you actually have to click the Join the Challenge button to be counted.

Found the one I was thinking of... it was an international not global, winter bike to work day
Come Ride With Us | Winter Bike to Work DayWinter Bike to Work Day

And National Bike To Work Day is the 3rd Friday in May, the 20th (according to the League, anyhow, and for this nation, anyhow).

Did it too, this morning. Kinda dumb that it tracks you one way though, and then, what, that's it? The leaderboard has guys on there with like 10 hour times or something - how does that even work?

I don't participate in events to promote companies such as the one you mentioned in the subject line unless they are willing to compensate me.

Um - I'm not sure how I advertised for them this morning. It was a little challenge that appeared in my Strava dashboard that you could tap to "enter" then when I completed my ride this morning it said I completed the "challenge." The end.

Now that you entered this event, you became a data point in their "global event". They have your data and will use it to further promote themselves and probably target you for further promotions. What did you get for providing this? Maybe something, maybe nothing, and maybe you don't care. But the company creating this so-called "global event " is not doing this because they don't think it will benefit them. Similarly, greeting card companies created numerous made up days to promote their products. You can choose to participate if you like or not. I choose not to.

Sorry guys, it's my fault, I posted my completion badge to FB, so I advertised to my friends and the world that I like to workout on a bike or on my feet sometimes.

Come to think of it, I'd love it if more of my real life friends were on Strava, so I guess I don't mind advertising for them.

Well, you are definitely increasing brand awareness by starting this thread and promoting it to your friends, which was the whole point of the "global event." Nice of you to do this for free.
