"Can I leave my bike in the back"?

My last patient asked that after she got here, and I told her bring it inside and put it by mine. She was pretty happy about that, it wasn't what she expected.

I wouldn't have expected it either. Good for you .:thumb:

You get happy events like that sometimes. I remember once I was at the amusingly-titled bbq restaurant Men Wielding Fire in Reno, not much parking on the narrow sidewalk outside, they were happy to let me roll my bike through the dining room and leave it in the patio out back. Or another time I rode to a hotel downtown to help set up an event in their ballroom, and they let me check my bike into a storage/utility room.

... you have patients?

RubeRad 06-08-16 01:54 PM

I started out with no patients. Then I decided to wait for some, but turns out I got no patience.

I stayed in a hotel one time and asked if they could recommend a spot for me to keep my bike. They offered to let it set back behind the front desk in a back corner.

First floor = no carrying the bike up and down stairs!!

This is where I put mine at TGIFridays.

This Red Line MXII is hanging at the TGIF in the Gold Coast Casino in Las Vegas. It appears to have never been ridden (and assembled incorrectly).

Poor bike, what a waste. The one I posted on the bar is actually mine. I rode it there and took it in and got the picture for a photo tag game being played on another forum.

Of course, a bike like that there is no other parking suitable. Nice ride. We sold a good number of the Ross ATB's in the day. Vintage earns respect!

I still love that bike. It is still going strong after so many years. I bought it in 1984. At the moment it has different bars and a Brooks on it. I still have the original bars shown in this picture, and they are in perfect shape.

I try for first floor too. But regardless my bicycle goes in the hotel room. For one thing I would not trust people at the hotel. But with four panniers and stuff on my racks it's just easier to manage leaving the bike loaded. I'll want stuff from the panniers in my room. And would certainly not consider leaving that stuff for somebody to watch for me!

I've read that some people ask (and are refused) for permission to bring their bike into the room. I don't beg the question. I've never been challenged about it but if I were would express shock that buying a room doesn't automatically include bringing your bicycle and other personal items inside.

I don't have any patients... or patience. Just ask my kids. :)

I turned my 85 Miyata Ridge Runner into a cruiser years ago and use it as an errand runner. Those that have not had the experience of life with one of the early MTB designs will never understand how wonderful they ride. When the Ross MTB's came out we were blown away at how well they did it. Used to selling Ross Compacts and Eurotours, then wam! Right between the eyes! Great bikes.

Yes they were great bikes, still are! Many years ago I told myself I would use the Ross for a while to run errands, and if I committed to it, the next year I would buy a different bike for the task. I fell in love with the Ross again and rode it for three more years before buying a LHT for touring. I still love riding the Ross. I am also amazed at how well it has held up over the years. I have maintained it, but still, it still looks good. The Miyata Runner was a great bike too. It was a cool time to see the mountain bike come into being like that.

One day I will probably put the original bars back on it, but I like it in this configuration too.

Good on you; if I were asked that my reply would be "sure, park it next to mine in this empty triage room..."

rumrunn6 07-06-16 06:33 AM

right on! you know she'll be back

once on a ride, I needed help with a quick repair, Dicks Sporting Goods made me check in at the front desk w/ ID and they tagged it. I wasn't allowed to walk it to the bike dept.

REI, on the other hand, thought nothing of it and I walked right back to the bike dept where they helped me out quickly and graciously
