Bottle Cage + Frame Mount Bike Lock = Headache

1 Attachment(s)
So I picked up a bottle cage for my bike and after I mounted it I ran into clearance issues with my bike lock that's mounted to my frame. Has anyone had a similar issue and came up with a fix? So far my only options are to buy a smaller lock, carry the lock in a backpack whenever I want to ride w. it, or buy an offset water bottle cage (If I can find one that offsets enough).

Try one of these orientations:

I'll try moving it forward on the top tube but the last time I tried that the screws scratched my pants. Plus I tend to sit on the top tube at a stop so that might be a problem as well.

It looks like there might be enough room to move the bottle cage forward on the down tube. If so, an adapter would be easy enough to make. Get a piece of suitable material and drill 4 holes in pairs. One pair for the current mounting position, and another offset some distance for the bottle cage.

Then it's only a question of how fancy you want to get, ie; you could countersink the "frame" holes for a clan look, and use thread inserts pushed in from the back for the "bottle holes".

Then I guess you could always get a water bottle holder adapter that mounts on your bars:

Some nifty solutions there.

The Kryptonite NY Lock is so big which makes it tough to mount without interference. Doesn't help that the bracket is awful too.

I've got a mini Krypotonite NY lock around here somewhere.

But the full sized one is just easier to use.

Update: I tried moving it forward on the top tube and luckily it worked with just enough room to spare.

EDIT: Pics because I posted this from my phone and forgot to link. I think I will look at other lock solutions in the future.
