I got two of them - a Lumina 550 and a 750.

Very impressive lights. I keep them on low on the MUP so I don't blind anybody, and turn up to high when I get to the street.

OK, here we go again. So what's the Lumina 750? And why is it less expensive than the 700?

Just received the Cygolite 150 and I don't know what all the excitement is about. It's a good rear blinkie, but for $50, I expected it to blow my mind. Having gone to see the "50" and the "100" at REI, I was already prepared for it to be about half the size it appeared to be in the ads, so that wasn't the issue. But the brightness is just OK and the blinking modes don't seem to have been developed with any real thought. I am disappointed, but I will give it a full charge, put it away for the winter, and stick it on the bike next year. What a waste of time all this research was.

I'm not sure what you are expecting for <$50. For the price the Hotshot Pro 150 is pretty hard to beat. There are like 8 different modes to select from including steady/flash which I prefer. I also have a Dinotte 300R and the Cygolite Hotshot Pro 150 actually flashes brighter than the Dinotte if you are standing behind the bike and not too far off to the side. I still think the Dinotte is a better light for drivers to see and track you but most people aren't going to spend 4X as much for a marginal improvement in visibility. The 'lesser' Hotshots aren't as bright and they use optics to boost the brightness which results in a very narrow beam pattern.

Boy, you're hard to please. I suggest you have someone strap the light to their (or your) bike and ride off, with you watching. On the other hand, don't. You won't be happy.

He's the guy who spent like 12 months researching a $45 light day and night. No wonder he's disappointed.

Plus, he's going to keep it in storage for the next 6 months. Da fuq?

I think I just spent too much time stressing over it to ever be happy with it, at least right out of the box. If I had listened to you people and just bought any decent quality light a month ago, it may have been different.

The bottom line, though? By the time I use it in the spring,I will have forgotten all about the search and it will just be the little blinking light below my ass. End of discussion, next?

Euchre, as funny as that whole thread and its (predictable) outcome was, for some reason that "Da fuq?) just struck me as a perfect summation. I almost snorted my soda.

Carry on.

Yeah, even though it was a rip on me, I found it pretty funny, too. Ya gotta laugh at yourself sometimes.
