I'm hoping there are good bikes made with carbon frame that are under $2,000

What type of bike are you looking for ... road, mountain, commuter?

A few examples:

Giant TCR Advanced 2 is $1650 I believe, with full 105. That's tough to beat.

You'll have to refine your criteria for what is 'good'.

There are nearly an 1/0 number of bicycles that have carbon fiber frames selling for less than $2500.

You should be able to find a bike from most of the major manufacturers that meet your price point. I would say they are all of equally good quality

Carbon frame not most ideal for a dedicated commuter as most lack the eyelets for fenders and racks. Not to say you can't do it as there are work-arounds for mounting these things. You'd be better off getting aluminum.

If, on the other hand, you want to weekend rider that can also serve as an occasional commuter, well, like others have stated already you've got endless options.

I agree with the recommendation for a Aluminum or Chrome Molly frame Daily commuter.
If you really want carbon, check out this Posh Pinarello ... all the good stuff for $1,950

Would you even be able to park that thing in or near the office? It seems clearly destined to be a garage ornament, not meant for the gritty realities of bicycle commuting.

Posh. Good descriptor for that bike.

The only thing missing is a set of drop bars.

I don't see fender attachments. I'd ride it though, esp if it came with drop bars. Just don't care for flat bar bikes

Get a titanium cross bike from bikes direct with disc brakes. They have some sweet options for under 2K. Can't beat that as a bullet-proof commuter.

I like those titanium bikes.

More ways to get huge discounts...

Buy last year's bike during a sale like that Diverge.

Build your own bike but not at USA retail! Carbon frames from China.

Components from the gray market,

Components from the previous generation, mismatched. (Just looking for an example, Starbike right now has the 5-arm Chorus crank for $82 less than the new 4-arm.)

check out the trek emonda s4. all carbon, all tiagra components, weighing about 20-21 lbs total. you can find them on sale for ~$1,400 and it wouldn't cost much to do a flatbar conversion if you want flat bars.
