A set of 38mm touring tires. How much and what difference will I feel compared to 28mm?

A convertible jacket in the most obnoxious yellow available. I wasn't a fan of hi-vis yellow but after being hit by a car this week, and that the driver's excuse was that she didn't see me, I want to be as visible as possible (and apparently fluorescent orange wasn't enough). Convertible because weather is very moody here lol.

Garmin 820 from my wife
Park Tools adjustable torque wrench from my kids.

I'm probably not getting the Garmin due to the price tag.

I wouldn't say no to a Masi Randonneur, but that seems unlikely.

On second thought, I'd be totally happy with a six pack of beer, a couple of inner tubes, and a scribbley signed card from my 2 yr old.

I change my mind; I want easy commuting weather this winter--less snow, less cold, less wind. Hope he comes through.

Maybe I should be thinking of winter shoes that take SPD cleats. I have wonderful new shoes, but they're cold.

+1

I could definately have another February like last year. Really mild and plesant. Crossing fingers but am expecting more snow. C'mon Santa! Just have a little snow at Christmas for the sleigh and keep it miled for the rest of the year.

I bought a pair of Lakes last year after 10 years of freezing my toes (probably coming close to losing them more than once).

Absolutely worth the $250 I spent on them. I went to my LBS and they made me a great deal on them, better than any price I found online. It helps that I went in the summer and told them they could take their time, I didn't need them for months.

It's a fairly significant difference, though not dramatic. I have 28 on one bike, 40mm on another. I can go over pretty darn rough pavement and not feel much of anything on the 40s. The handling doesn't seem quite as good as the 28s, though still better than skinny 23s. My next set is going to be paselas in 32 I think.

I dunno. Really, I just want the permission to buy whatever I want within a certain price. Then I can debate what I want.
