Got a car ticket
 

Damn! I got pulled over last night for having an expired tag. I tried to explain that I didn't notice becuase I hardly ever drive my car, but it didn't work. I got an $80 ticket. Today I went to the DMV and got my stuff renewed. That cost $74 altogether. So I will have spent more this month than... well probably than all the gas I've bought all year.

That sucks.

Yeah that does suck. Hey but at least it's probably still less expensive than what you'd've paid in gas to do all your travel by car.

What the hell are you doing driving your car?

Try going to court and explaning your situation. You may get the charge dropped or the fine reduced by showing that you have taken care of the problem.

--Give this a try, especially if the ticket will affect your insurance rates.

A friend had to drop his mother's car off at her house, so I drove there and then drove him home.

I've been thinking about doing that. My only concern is that I'd be found guilty and have to pay court costs on top of the fine.

I slipped up and let my car insurance expire this month. I sent off the extortion check just to be on the "safe" side. It sure doesn't make me feel any safer, just robbed. :mad:

A) You were guilty, even if you just pay it by mail, you're still being found guilty, it's just easier since you don't have to show up.

B) When I've gone to traffic court, the people who have had expired tags license whatever usually get the ticket waived if they show up proving they've gotten it renewed or fixed or whatever.

C) I think even if you pay the ticket by mail or phone you still have to pay court costs.

I had the same thing happen, in NC first offenders show up, there is a clerk in one of the court rooms that handle these things. I showed my proof of registration, they said thank you, fine waived, have a nice day.

Funny thing, totally unrelated.. But I was riding.. well coasting down this hill last night in a 35 zone, rural, NO traffic, etc... I dont have my computer on this bike. Got to the bottom of the hill and a highwaypatrol pulls up next to me. He said, I clocked you at 52. I grinned and said cool! He said please be careful and drove off..

If it can you feel better, I got three parking tickets last year because I forgot to park my cage on the other side of the street for street cleaning. My car costs me even when I'm not using it!

Didn't the DMV send you a renewal notice?
