Lemond Poprad
Is $550 for a 2005 Leond Poprad fair value (good condition)?
|
BicycleBluebook says $220 for a nice one
|
BicycleBluebook is very nearly worthless, IMO. As I understand it, their values are based on original MSRP and a formula based on age. That doesn't map well to reality.
The LeMond Poprad is a fairly sought after bike, but the disc version (which I think came later) brings higher prices. I think $550 might be a little high, but it's not totally out of the ballpark. |
Non-disc Poprad framesets are selling for $400+ on ebay. Bicyclebluebook is way off.
The Poprad disc started in 2006. |
According to the catalog the 2005 came with an aluminum fork. I think that probably drops the value a bit compared to later models. I'm not saying it should, but I think it does. On the other hand, if I'm interpreting the catalog correctly it has a Reynolds 853 main triangle, and that's a definite plus.

I love the Reynolds 853 on my 2000 Zurich: light, responsive, and damp
|
The True Temper OX Platinum Disc frames can go for pretty good prices on eBay, I have seen from 500-1000. My wife owns a Lemond Poprad and loves it. It's a great any weather/go anywhere commuter.

I learned about a new bike today. Never knew these existed!
|
I found a nice one but couldn't get the price below $800. the fact that it is cyclocross and Reynolds 853 keeps the price high (if you are in a large market where someone will pay for those things).

I think that's a fair price for the bike.
