Jamis stepping their game up.

I saw the bike below and it made me say wow. They literally thought of everything. My personal everyday, commuter, light touring/bikepacking bike is my 2015 Specialized Comp Carbon. I've gone on a few centuries with this bike, ridden to work countless times and even done some light bikepacking with it but I still think the Jamis Renegade is a little better. Crazy thing is I thought nothing could come close to the Comp Carbon in terms of versatility on the road and gravel but I may be wrong. I haven't had the chance to test ride one yet but I'm afraid if I do, I might buy it. First world problems for sure. I can't put another bike in my apt, it's four in here already.

I clicked on the link and I agree on paper they are nicely designed bikes. Jamis to me have always been bikes with great value.

That already fills the nitch that I use my salsa cutthroat for, but thanks for posting that, I actually enjoyed the video they had there.

That silver "Expat" model with Tiagra is gorgeous. Tempting--my LBS is able to pick up straight from the factory and passes the savings along.

I wasn't aware of another touring-esque model for Jamis. I own the more retro Aurora and love it.

Looks very good. Needs fenders.

Looking at the MSRP on the Renegade Elite makes me feel a lot better about how much money I've spent upgrading my Kona Jake. :innocent:

It's definitely a nice looking line of bikes. I'm having trouble getting myself to accept the look of Shimano's RS505 STI levers though. Also, I'd like to see cranks with 46-30 gearing. I bet that'll be there next year.

That is a wonderful bike. The LBS closest to me started carrying Jamis specifically because of that bike. They have several models and sizes og the Renegade in stock. If I were in the market for a new bike that was extremely versatile and would meet my commuting needs, this bike would be at the very top of my list!! It seems to tick all the boxes.

Totally, that's the sweet spot in the lineup, but they all look pretty good.

Wide 23mm tubeless-ready rims is a nice perk, I wonder if those Clement tires are also tubeless-ready

I just realized you're in the PNW. Do you mind me asking what bike shop you're referring to? I've been trying to find a Renegade Elite to test ride and no one seems to have one.

No Campagnolo Disc option?

I realize that a lot of the force on a rack is direct vertical, but that just looks a little flimsy on the rearend. I suppose I'd like to see a good strong 4-point rear rack connection.

I'm surprised they didn't chose the direct mount discs for their aluminum models

Nonetheless, they do look nice. :)

Thanks.

I've put about 700 miles on my Renegade Expat since last May. It really is an excellent all-rounder. Handles a load nicely, fits up to 41mm tires and with 32's on commuting gear on it still manages to feel spirited. I've had plenty of nice days and haven't ridden my Specialized Roubaix once this year. The Jamis is just comfy and I figure the extra weight just helps me train better.

p.s. it fits the stock 35mm Clement Xplor MSO with fenders and room to spare!
