Houston TX commuting question

Is Old Katy Rd. / Wescott / Washington Avenue tolerable into and out of Downtown during rush hour? I've been on it on the weekends, but not during the week.

I was hit pretty bad on old katy road, happened towards the beginning of all that construction they started last october. Here is my original post

Westcott is fine, old katy would be fine without the construction, and washington would scare me a bit too, but traffic is slow on that road so it might not be too bad. But it is sooo busy. I commute from Spring Branch, about 4 miles west of the IKEA. I end up in River Oaks on Dunlavy/West Gray about 3 blocks from the old theatre. My ride used to be 10 miles, now it's 12. I go two miles out of my way and the ride is so much more enjoyable. If you think I might be able to help you find a route, send me a pm. I end up going through Timber Oaks and the Heights just to avoid all the roads you just mentioned. ;)

The section of Washington East of Heights Blvd has a pretty wide bike lane that I feel comfortable on regardless if traffic is light or heavy. Once you get West of Heights I'd suggest cutting through (depending on where you're heading) the Rice Military area towards Memorial Park or go North on Heights Blvd and slip through the Oak Forest area into Spring Branch.

I rode it yesterday, was busy but tolerable.

Thanks for the reply.
