New tires

Just kinda excited, want to share haha. Just ordered schwalbe's new road cruisers for my district, really excited to test these out. Wore out my rear tire, continental tour ride, fairly quickly (phoenix seems to be hell on tires) and now I'm on a spare (forte Gotham ST, hate this thing with a burning passion. Buzzes. Feels slow) and I've had nothing but good luck on schwalbe tires. Here's to hoping these hold up and feel good on my rides.

Nice tires with decent protection as well.

I've lived in the greater phoenix area most of my life, and never really thought about how long tires last... until I spent a year in Seattle commuting. Using a conti contact II up front, tour ride out back I was getting 2500-3000 miles out of the rear tire... (estimate, it was about 50% tread when I left) put a new tire on the back when I moved back to phoenix and barely got 1500 out of it before it was bald in the center and needed replacing.

Front tire hasn't needed replaced but I'm noticing accelerated wear.

Hence replacing the set with the schwalbes

Nice. Road Cruiser looks kind of like the Marathon Mondials I recently put on.

What size? What bike?

Trek District 8, 700x32

Looks like a great commuter, I'm sure the schwalbe tires will perform and last as well as anything else you can find out there.

I love the smell of new tire rubber. Have since I was a little kid. :)

lol, whenever I deflate a tire, I always think "ugh, tube fart"

While I love new tires like anyone, Schwalbe itself doesn't seem to think too highly of these, rating them 3/6 in every category (except offroad where they earn a 2). I guess for $18 MSRP there's not a lot to expect...

That's true, however, for the kind of riding I do on this bike I'm interested to see how they feel and hold up. Not really expecting too much longevity wise, maybe a summers worth of riding before they're worn out. I'm just hoping they roll faster than the Forte I have on the back, maybe even faster than my old conti tour ride.

Got the tires in today and mounted them... They seem a bit large for a 32... measured 34.7mm wide mounted and inflated to 80psi. They look nice on the bike though, can't wait to get out and see how they ride

RubeRad 10-16-17 09:18 AM

That looks like a good meaty width, appropriate for that biike.

I also see you've got a camelbak podium water bottle. Those are the best!

acidfast7 10-16-17 10:34 AM

They look pretty decent for $18 each :)
