some days after work we stop at the coffee shop. when we do we usually finish the coffee there. that day we left early for home from the shop. its only about a mile from home so easy enough to tote the cup.

I listen to a lot of different stuff via podcasts, and WWDTM is maybe the best. On that great episode where Stephen Colbert was a last-minute replacement and requested to be given the original guest's questions (Lena Dunham), he said he had listened all the way back in the archive, to a time before there was a live audience. Those would be interesting to try!

Paula Poundstone has always been my favorite panelist. I'm enjoying The Poundstone Institute podcast she's doing with Adam Felber (or is it Luke Burbank?), you should check it out.

The Hat

As his girlfriend I'm here to say he's free to wear what he likes and ride what he likes too! I've never complained about his attire since he's certainly never questioned mine. We are a good balance because neither can really complain about the others spending habits regarding bikes and clothes.
Also love getting coffee after work with this guy! Good talks and a short ride home. A splash stick is usually in order though...

Why the heck do people care what other people ride?? Or worse, offer strangers unasked for advice on how to ride?

i never offer advice unless i know them for a while. the reason i care enough to bring it up is because i want them to have a better experience. i dont know all there is to know about anything, when someone offers me advice i usually at least consider it. i have benefited mightily from the help of others and will try to pay it forward the best i can.

Why the heck do some people get all worked up about what other people say they want to do or wish they could do?

You act like you have NEVER offered to help anyone do anything, never offered advice, never given suggestions or anything else. I suppose you keep to yourself and never say a word to anyone else while out riding.

The seat on my wife's bike was too low once. I offered to raise it up some, suggesting that it would be more comfortable. After doing so she agreed that it was indeed more comfortable. Why do you have a problem with someone wanting to help someone else be more comfortable?

If you saw someone walking with their shoelaces untied, would you tell them about it to help them avoid a potential injury? Or do you just think to yourself "What the heck do I care if this person hurts themselves?"

Do you really consider giving unrequested gratuitous advice to strangers equivalent to offering the same advice to your wife?

Do you also offer gratuitous advice about lane position (a subject you feel strongly about) to strangers who are riding legally in ways that you do not feel comfortable riding yourself? How well do you think is such advice welcomed by strangers?
