Office Cycling Room
I've been looking online at office space in Seattle. I found one office in a new building and the office comes with a cycling room. Is this becoming a common thing with modern offices?
What is a cycling room? Is that like a place to store your bike or where you can bring in your trainer and ride indoors?
From what I could tell it is a room where you can secure your bike and biking things. They call it a cycling room. I thought it was nice that the building provides rooms for cycling commuters to keep their things.
I don't know if it's a trend, but I like it.
Does it come with a shower and a place to dry wet cycling clothes?
That would be neat |
ive found a few offices with showers and a lot with so much wasted space it could be used for bike storage and showers.
Decent of them. We have a few different showers for everyone (we also have a gym but the lockers are only for workouts and not all day), and bike racks outdoors, but tons of us bring our bikes inside and no one has ever complained. 300 days a year of fair weather and a lot of fair weather cyclists like yrs trly probably help with that.

The office building I work in has a bike cage in the parking garage and about 10 individual bike lockers they rent out. They just charge a one time $20 fee for the use of the cage, but the lockers are $30 every three months. I rent one of the bike lockers. They also have a small gym with one shower.

Ive seen buildings with bike rooms. The nice ones have showers too! It's not uncommon

I think it depends on where you live. In the Bay Area, as in Seattle, biking is popular and there are lots of bike lanes and good biking support. This leads to tech companies offering showers and bike rooms as perks. At previous companies, locked bike rooms were included with building remodeling, showers were generally available. My bike was parked at my desk. But cubes are disappearing in favor of cramped lines of desks and there's less room for bikes.
I will be there at the end of the year. I really want to see how they set it up for cyclist to use the roads. Where I live we don't have much but I've found most car drivers to be pretty good about sharing the road. Only bad one was a local cop.

showers & plumbing are harder & more expensive to put in, go with the spaces that have showers & extra room. then create your own "bike room". then hire me! :D
We have bike stands at the bottom in the emergency stairways. Bikes are in the dry and access to the building only with batch. And did I mention the locker rooms with the showers? lol
And still I am the only one riding the bike to work. |
