Fenders with solid mounting?
Just put some planet bike fenders on the bike. I had the front wheel off to throw it in the car, and one of the stays got snagged on something and ripped out of the plastic mounting.
It's still surprisingly aligned and functional-but is there anything out there with sturdier mounting that'll hold up to abuse better? Using a 28mm tire right now. I might be able to fit 32mm tires on the bike with fenders, but certainly can't go any larger. Clearing anything larger than a 28 is just a bonus. |
Where did it become detached, down at the bolt hole in the frame or fork? Some of those have quick release mounts that do that on purpose in case something gets jammed in the fender.

Steel Wald mudguards...
but the issue is you took the front wheel off and left the front mudguard on .. rig up a fast way to take the front mudguard off when you take the wheel out.. Or Get A Folding bike like a Brompton.. |
I have no problems with Portland Design Works.

SKS longboard fenders
I’ve used SKS longboards with good luck.

+1 on the SKS Longboards....the extra-long bottoms work well.

sks are pretty much the flimsiest you can buy imo.

OP discovered a feature, not a flaw, of his fenders. They plastic clips are designed to break free so that you don't take a header if you ride your bicycle over a stick. |
