Back on the road

Since i started my current job a little over a year ago, I felt like the 17mile trip would be just too far, all my previous commutes were 6-8 miles each way. in October I drove partway, and parked about 5 miles from work. did it twice , it didn't seem like it was worth the hassle. around thanksgiving I started really getting interested in ebikes
but the cost was too high:twitchy:!. then a few days ago read where the CEO of TREK does a 22 / 44mile round trip commute, and I said well if he can , so can I! so I started getting estimates of time using strava and google, and got from 1.5hrs to 2.5hrs. this morning I finally decided to give it a go. 1 hour 20 minutes and was a really good ride!
I figure ill do it twice a week weather permitting for now and up it to 3 times or more in warmer weather. I'm finally gonna have some real bragging miles!:thumb:

My commute is too short right now! So problems exist at both ends.

Excellent. :thumb:

If I am "fresh", and without cargo I can often do about a 16 or 17 mile commute in an hour or so. Coming back, it is normally closer to two hours :p

2nd day in a row today, lessons i have leanred already..leave clothes for work when i drive, the back pack gets heavy!
if the weather forecast wasn't so disagreeable I would have driven today and ridden tomorrow so that I could rest up a bit. but I do what I can as we all do.

brought more food with me today- I gets hungry after a 90 minute ride

Awesome! That distance is entirely doable, and you'll feel so much better as a result. There are certainly details to work out but that's a part of the fun!

I think for my area HILLY WV its on the edge of doable its 1500ft of climbing both ways looks like this ^^^----^^^ even the flats aren't flat!

#That’s great! It starts with one mile ..., and I feel fine ;-)

Yeah, at the end of the day/week/month/year you’ll feel good about it because mate, YOU DID IT! People are often stronger than they think. Tip: when doing greater distances go prepared (e.g. repair kit, water).

go, Go, GO!

That's awesome! I ride 22 miles to work in the morning and take the train most of the way home. 28 miles per day. I have worked my way to doing this commute five days a week. I just don't have enough time to ride both to and from work. Sometimes in the summer, though, I will ride home too and try to enjoy the views.

Keep up the good work!!!!

Thanks for all the encouragement all! I wish I saw more bike commuters in my area but at least most of the drivers are curteous
