Round trip is usually 22ish. during the summer it is more like 33 ish.

Abe_Froman 03-07-18 02:39 PM

7.5 each way. 28-40 min in nice weather depending on lights.

ascherer 03-07-18 03:41 PM

8.8 miles RT without side trips, from the north end of Central Park in Manhattan to midtown near the Empire State Building. Slightly different routes, 4.3 in the AM and 4.5 PM. About 20 minutes each way including lights.

aplcr0331 03-07-18 05:37 PM

18.5 each way. Cat 4 climb at the end going to work, climb back home is not quite as difficult.

Selicate 03-08-18 03:44 AM

35 rt if I take the most direct route or 45 rt if I take the beach path. Driving saves me just 15 minutes, but only because I don't have to shower when I drive.

ExPatTyke 03-08-18 05:49 AM

15 miles each way. I can cut it down to 12 miles, but that involves using a roundabout on a motorway junction. - I'm much happier doing the extra miles without the traffic.

My commute is 17 miles round trip when I park my vehicle and ride my bike from a park, which is what I usually do because it's easier to pick up my kid from daycare (shorter drive to daycare). It's 24 miles round trip when I ride from the house, which is glorious when I can do that.

Harhir 03-08-18 11:35 AM

About 16 miles round trip. Occasionally when the weather is great and I have some time I make a detour on my way home extending it it by a few few miles.

robert schlatte 03-08-18 03:32 PM

My commute is 6 miles each way right on the nose and I do it every day except when deep snow or ice which is pretty rare anymore.

yamsyamsyams 03-08-18 04:03 PM

32 miles round trip per day. Sometimes I’m needed at other office locations in which case it’s 51 miles round trip. Makes for a tiring day - feels like I’m bike touring!

mjtull 03-08-18 08:49 PM

3.6 miles each way - unless I take the 30 mile "scenic" route

johnlp37 03-09-18 04:22 AM

20 round trip everyday.

wsgts 03-10-18 07:52 PM

20 - 22 per day

dschwarz 04-14-18 01:55 PM

Mondays are 10mi r/t. Every other day, 6.6mi r/t. I would love to do at least 10 miles every weekday

52telecaster 04-14-18 08:31 PM

8 miles round trip. i commute by bike every day unless its 0 degrees farenheit or below.

Buddha2499 04-15-18 07:55 AM

19 miles round trip. I’m trying to find a route that would make it a little longer.

RidingMatthew 04-17-18 06:20 AM

not sure if I answered this one before but 11 miles one way. 22 or so roundtrip unless I have some time to add a little on. Like this morning was 13.6. lately I have been adding miles on. I try to ride everyday I can. Wife asked me to pick up something so I drove yesterday. :(

Revracer 04-18-18 08:22 AM

I commute one day per week, 62 miles and roughly 4 hours round trip. The route has 4000' of climbing and I will generally ride in dry weather over 32F. Yesterday was 36F with snowflakes on way home (bizarre after our 85F Saturday).

We moved offices last year which added 2 miles, but it provided showers which are so wonderful to remove the crust, be it sweat or road grime. Roads start rural with a CAT4 climb, then I join the traffic flow on a 2 sometimes 4 lane road where drivers are mostly respectful. It is a commute that I need to psych myself up for the night before, but I am pretty goal oriented as I strive to get 100 miles in per week to be healthy in mind and body and sometimes the commute is the only way I can squeeze that in, plus 4 hours on bike is so much better than 2 hours in the car. The good news is I can work from home three days a week so it provides variety as well.

I tend to hang out in the Classic Vintage forum, but need to spend more time here as I found my bike performance related to commuting needs work. Getting the legs to recover for the ride home has been the biggest challenge. Winter commuting adds a few pounds to the bike with added clothes both on and in the trunk bag and lbs on me from winter gluttony, so that is a factor.

I am looking to mix this up with perhaps 2 commutes and driving to make the riding distance a bit more reasonable at 30 round trip as some days are naturally harder than others.

Korina 04-24-18 09:57 AM

7.5 flat miles each way, about 40 min.; now the weather's nicer I've resumed going both ways (my other ride is a bus). When I get my legs back, I'll throw in the longer ride home on occasion, about 11 rolling, scenic miles.

Archwhorides 04-24-18 01:40 PM

My commute is 18 miles round trip. 45 minutes each way in the summer, 60 minutes in the winter (studs are damn slow).

Hey Everyone,

On average how many miles do you commute?

I average in between 12-14 miles for my total commute.

Just curious

Ya need to use the poll feature for a question about this. I'm 25 miles round trip - or more if its a nice day...

furiousferret 04-24-18 03:20 PM

25 miles round trip. The return is about a mile longer as I take a safer traffic route home.

skillasw 04-25-18 07:36 PM

Just stopped working this job, but my commute for 2 years was 18miles round trip loosing then gaining 400ft. Now that I'm off for a bit I try to do at least 10miles a day. I don't have car and the closest grocery store, or any store is a 12 mile round trip loosing and gaining 400ft. Keeps me fit!

Gresp15C 04-25-18 08:04 PM

Average: 4 miles each way. Standard deviation: Zero. ;)

Lionking996 04-25-18 09:42 PM

50 miles

Crashola 04-26-18 09:55 AM

I commute a whopping 1.4 miles each way on flat city streets. :thumb: I have to take my bike up a parking ramp elevator and keep it in a locked bike closet in our building, which adds a few minutes. So it usually takes me about 12 minutes door to door.

My wife has it even easier. A 1-mile ride each way that takes, depending on one stop light, about 7 minutes.

verybigsquirrel 05-04-18 11:30 AM

I've got an EXHAUSTING 3 miles each way. It's downhill into the city! But I usually hit the climbing gym after work, sometimes take a ride at lunch, get groceries... I do wish my commute were longer. It's the best part of my day.

skinny matt 05-04-18 04:10 PM

19 round trip. Sometimes 25 in the winter because I have to take an alternate route. I frankly never stretch it out with three kids and a very tired mom waiting at home. Going into my eleventh year commuting and this is my longest but I don't have to stop too much so It doesn't take much longer.

SylvainG 05-04-18 07:53 PM

25 miles for me, 5 days a week, rain or shine. Snow is when I stop.

alan s 05-04-18 09:54 PM

30 miles, uphill both ways and always a headwind.
