Wow, they ^^^^^^ even managed to invoke Godwin's Law, of a sort....

Why do I feel like I just watched a Monty Python sketch that got caught in a time warp? I half-expected a giant cut-out foot to stomp on the whole city at the end.

LA used to have a bicycle highway. But they were torn down for car highways.

It's not a safety issue that cyclists are mandated to wear helmets but drivers don't. It's political.

Cities and towns all over the world lose their character as soon as an automobile through-road is built through it.

Absolutely hilarious video.

But, there are a few reasons why vehicle drivers should want good bicycle lanes.
  • Getting bicycles out of the middle of the road improves car movement, and vehicle safety (no radical maneuvers).
  • Nobody wants to injur or kill another human. Imagine being late for work, then having to wait for police investigations and reports, spending days in court, etc.
  • More cyclists means fewer motorists (easier to park, cheaper gas, less overall congestion, cleaner air, ....)
  • Buffer. A bike lane is like a road shoulder and can be used as a break-down lane, swerve a little to avoid obstructions, etc. Wall to Wall cars without shoulders can be terrifying, especially for large vehicles.

I've seen things like 4 lane roads cut down to 3 lane roads (2+ turn lane). But, that center turn lane may be more efficient than the congestion due to turning vehicles in the previous 2x2 configuration.

That's how I feel about my existence living in Britain.

As an example, one of our major airports is shut this morning due to drones. Yes, drones over a huge airport. Been essentially 12 hours and we can't stop them (at least 20,000 people delayed). Can't shoot them down due to stray bullets and huge population centres.

The solution being actively considered to safely remove the drones is trained Dutch Eagles.

OK, this is how they'll catch them or stop it (and probably catch them at a later date when they're talking at the pub and jail them for five years.)

edit: statement soon to be made in House of Lord by the Minister of Transport, that how you know a prank has gone to far. And, this will usher in global mandatory registration of personal drones and restricted airspaces (the UK was always going to first to have this happen.)

Thankfully, I'm taking the Eurotunnel over the München for Christmas on SAT morning.

Thank you. It's a wonderful video. I don't normally have that much attention span for a video, but the humor and the succinct language make it totally worthwhile.

Those aren't plain old drones like you saw in the video. Eagles aren't going to have much fun with them.

I read that the military has been called in and I'm sure Droney McDroneface will be behind bars soon.

Not at all. There's at least 10 drones with mobile charging platforms. No one will be arrested but drone mischief will come to a silent conclusion by MON.

This isn't two kids in Crawley.

This is an organised attack and potentially similar to Anonymous v2.0 using equipment like this attached to white man vans.

There is also a huge amount of greenspace around LGW that can be thermally protected.

You don't want those!!!

Around here, whenever they see a plover, they close the beach.

Or, perhaps proactively, if they saw a plover the year before, they close the beach the next year.

I don't know man. Everything is connected.

SG1 is Stevenage in the video and they have the best bibimbap in the UK (and not much else but AIRBUS).

Mate, I dunno wot a plover tis tho?

And, this is obviously an anti-Brexit gang showing the EU oversight is critical.

Yup.

Gatwick will remain closed for the rest of the night after drone
activity was reported “within the last hour”, its chief operating officer
Chris Woodroofe said.

This is pretty much 24h later. Probably Russia just like in Holland/Switzerland.

Why not shoot down the drones?

I love Korean food. I didn't grow up with anything like it, but it tastes like a gramma cooked it.

That's usually the American response on their media. There drones are between 200m and 1km up and around 1m wide, no one is going to be shooting the down. Also, bullets that go up come down and it's quite dense in the surrounding area.

Anyways, they'll never catch the perp(s).

120k PAX have new plans. ugh.

Crawley isn't a large city (only 120K or so), but it's directly in between the departures and arrivals (page 28).

Funny that it should come from me, because I'm not one to think of guns. I've never owned one.

Call in the RAF. Whatever’s the current British equivalent of a Growler can surely kill a civilian drone just by looking at it crossly

Really? Where do you get your information about the usual American response on their media about shooting down civilian operated drones? Der Spiegel? https://medium.com/@micheleanderson/...2f3e0e01a7?&te
