Anyone Recognize This Striped Tire?

I saw these on my commute a few days ago. Initially, I thought the guy was riding on bare metal rims.

I thought I saw the word Matrix in white letters on the sidewall which I recall was black ...

I couldn't find any tires called Matrix, but found some called Maxxis ... but didn't see this one on their web site.

Not sure about that tire, but Michelin uses a black strip on their Pro4 and Lithion models.

Perhaps other brands too.

I had my Origin8 Elimin8er tires that I wore down until I had a black band almost all the way around, but, not as clean of lines as that.

Hutchinson makes some like that if you're looking.

I had a pair of Vittoria Rubino tires like that a few years back.

I had a pair of Hutichison tires like that a few years ago. Got them super cheap (like $10) on Bonktown or some such internet site. They pretty much disintegrated after less than 500 miles. You get what you pay for. Lo barato sale caro, as the old Mexican saying goes.

There isn't much in that photo I would want to emulate, but to each his own, I guess...

3 color band tires It's been a thing for quite a while 20 years at least.. guess you just found current brands selling them,,

after a while there is a separation line as the tire ages a bit..

Panaracer (not just for retro-grouches) makes road tires that look like that, too:

Treks were once sold with matrix wheels / tires. My 92 had on it's original matrix tires when I purchased it. I don't know when they stopped.

I think on Bike Tires Direct you can search by color, but also all the colored tires were either really skinny, or kid bike sized.

So much ugly. Please DO NOT put these on any self-respecting bicycle. Ugh.

Exactly. But clearly the guy in the pic is going for some sort of style over function (exhibit B being his fancy metal fenders that left a nice wet spot on his backside).
