Some Laughs (for a change)

--- Here is a funny item from https://probicycle.com/da/offtheroad.html to lighten up some Bike Forums curmudgeons:

HARTFORD CT— Longtime bicycle commuter Gary Spivak says that he feels like an idiot. Spivak says that the idea to "Get the f--k off the road" had never really occurred to him until he received the suggestion from a passing motorist last Friday afternoon as Spivak was cycling along Stanley Street from his job in downtown Hartford to his home in New Britain. Fifty-four year old Spivak says that although he has been cycling the 14 mile roundtrip daily for the past 23 years he now wonders, "What in the hell was I thinking!"

It's a joke, people...

It's the, "Oh, of course! Why didn't I think of that?!" sarcasm that makes it funny, see.

Hahahaha

The commuter's facetious reaction highlights the actual LACK of merit in the "get off the road" mentality and the anecdote serves as an inspiration for us bike commuters.

That's why I posted it, for the humor and the inspiration. Yeah, it's a joke.

Hahahaha … Yeah, it's a joke.
Hey, if it's any consolation to you, I got it. You might want to avoid irony around here, though. I've had VERY marginal success with it here myself. As I've said before, Canadians LOVE irony, so I thank you on behalf of my countrypersons.

--- Thanks for the consolation. I was raised in Michigan so some Canadian irony must've seeped across the border. Another irony is that as the price of gasoline keeps rising, it will be the cars that will "Get the f--k off the road"

So what is meant by "I smell The Onion"?

The Onion is a long-running spoof newspaper (now news web site) that makes jokes very similar to the web site you posted.

https://theonion.com/2056-06-22/index_b.php (It looks a little odd, maybe as an anniversary joke?)
