I'm slim athletic cut, so it's not a problem. £220 seems to be RRP, which is reasonable/inexpensive. Still much less than standard office apparel.

Won't touch North Face even though I have a nice outlet shop 10 mins walk from house. Even at outlet prices, the quality is too low at that price point. I find Musto equipment much better at a similar price point.

Just my two cents, your milage may vary.

LOL, I'm not a NF fan either, but I made an exception for this item, and it seems to be well put together thus far. Another particularity of this particular Gore fabric is that being two-layer with the membrane on the outside, the face material is not durable, so wearing a back-pack is not recommended. I use panniers so this doesn't bother me, but some will find this durability issue a non-starter (along with the Model-T black finish).

This stuff is quite amazing, absence of pit zips is practically unnoticed (but the $$$ price tag is very noticeable).
Wow this stuff looks great!

The bright green jacket also has little blinky lights built into wrist and lower back, and big reflective panels on the side. Zipper needed some repair, so now am real careful to only pull it straight up or down and never outward.

I find that high quality non-waterproof jerseys dry out very quickly, especially if you maintain a pace that keeps a good breeze moving over you. I have a nice Cannondale waterproof jacket but it doesn't pack well and I work up quite a sweat while wearing it.

What are the specs on the jacket?

no jacket is waterproof and breathable as has been said. I have a Altura rain jacket and Endura windchill jacket that has seen rain once or twice. they both do well but I only worry with the rain jacket if it is cold and rainy. It is hard to get motivated to leave the house in the rain without the jacket but it is warm. I think pit zips are vital to venting. I wish both jackets could zip up from the bottom. I think rain hits you more when riding a drop bar bike on the chest and shoulders and arms.

the windchill allows heat to evaporate and it hasn't been in a drenching rain. plus i ride slower in the rain because can hurt at 17-18 mph
Showers Pass jackets are good compromises between waterproof and breathable. That is why they are a popular choice.

In the warm-hot summer, sometimes not wearing a jacket and getting wet is the best choice.

I know @GeneO it just made me laugh when Alan S said it. I know they are good jackets.

I like the one one with the city streets in reflective over the entire jacket.

I use the showers pass elite as a shell all winter rain or shine. The ventilation is great.

Got my Showers Pass jacket last night, wore it this morning. It was supposed to shower, but there wasn't a drop, the good news is it wasn't sweaty and miserable in the jacket either, def more breathable than the Frogg Toggs. I'll update when it actually rains as well, but so far so good.

Fairly steady rain for the first 20 mins of the ride home last night, stayed completely dry. This jacket is exactly what I was looking for, and at 50 bucks used it was a steal. Showers Pass gets a thumbs up from me!

I realize the OP found a nice jacket, just thought I would add one more for consideration for others who find this thread.

My Trail, storm jacket. At 52 I could lose a few microbrew pounds around the waist, the my trail is cut a little generous so that I can wear a sweater underneath. I had some drizzle for 9 miles coming home last night from the pub (I'm trying to work it off), and started out too cold. Went full pit zip and got too hot. A half pit zip was just right. For comparison my O2 primary jacket is also a great bit of kit but only in the summer as I cant really put some warm casual clothes on underneath it, and the pit zips are smaller. I never use the back pocket anyway. The mytrail jacket has also recently finished 3 days of paddleboarding the san juan river in some cloudy and drizzle conditions and it held up well, so I'm not worried about longevity. I wore it paddling and around camp for three days straight.

Cheers,

69% nylon, 31% polyurethane, mesh ventilation inserts are 100% polyester. It has a removable upper which converts the thing into a vest. I believe it is this:

...and the sweat will cause the jacket to stick to your skin resulting in less flexible movement when it's needed.

Showers Pass Elite. Has pit zips, and rear ventilation flap. Does a great job in the 40 to 60 degree F range, actually a little cool in the 40's, but that's better than sweating like I did in the Frogg Toggs at the same temp.

Looks similar to the Urban Circus jacket I got last year. Got it when they were kickstarting it so got it for $100 CDN. I use it in cold weather and in cool weather rain. Has underarm and back ventilation plus zipper unzip from the bottom and the top so allows multiple options to cool down. It's very reflective as can be seen below. Got many comments about its reflectiveness.

I bought the Gore Shakedry Stretch Jacket last year and we have had an extreme amount of rain this year. I have loved the lightweight, totally dry riding with no condensation. It is form fitting so it does not flap in the breeze, but I can still add or subtract layers depending on temperature to keep the sweat to a minimum. The best $250 I have ever spent on a jacket!

The Mississippi is more than full. Pictures taken on Sunday

Rain has been for more than two nights in the Midwest. Amtrak service is diverted due to high water at the station in Burlington, IA but the coal trains still get through.
