That's what I meant, somehow I remembered you using a trailer.

I like the idea of a wire cover both to protect the pooch in case of a crash and to keep her from jumping out. I also like the trikes, which provide a nice platform. And especially the recumbent trike which has the added feature of better visibility for the passenger, but don’t see one in my future. I’ll look for a front basket with a cover.

Love the pics in here! We have a Dachshund mix and a black lab mix. I take 'em both on my e-bike:

I just returned from a quick holiday in Ireland and did IN FACT see a dog in a front-mounted milk crate a bike returning to Galway from Roundstone.
https://www.google.com/maps/@53.4355...7i13312!8i6656 right there in fact. Didn't have time for the camera ... but I am now convinced that it is possible :D |
Our dogs are always 40+ pounds but I would adopt a small dog just so I could put it in a front basket with sunglasses. When I see them, they always seem to be enjoying themselves.

Ms. Minnie on ATX Social Ride
Here is a photo of my friend, David and his dog, Minnie. Photo taken last night on the 10th Anniversary ATX Thursday Night Social Ride and posted with his permission.
She is a 13 year old rat terrier. Ms. Minnie has ridden with David all of her life, I do believe. She has a milk crate lined on all sides and bottom with foam and rides in the back. The bottom has a double layer of foam padding. David can put a freezer pack between the layers to help keep her cool in the summer or a heat pack for the winter. She rides on the back of David's XtraCycle. Still, most folks I know that take small dogs with them on the bike use front baskets. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...4796bf0131.jpg |
I wonder if these dogs prefer a ride on the bicycle over a ride in the car?

What is that place? Looks like a giant warehouse without walls, I guess so people can play pickup bball even if it's raining? Or in the shade when it's hot?
It is a tarp covered basketball court at Metz Park in Austin. There is another court nearby, at same park, where we have bike polo practice and matches. Then again, we also have kayak polo and unicycle football leagues, here. Basketball Bikes ???
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...9665c78253.jpg My kids play basketball on rollerblades at this court as often as they can. At home, we play basketball and throw the football on CycoCycles. We have four of them.... https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...58e2c0b9a5.jpg |

After looking at a few more photos, clearly these courts now have a metal roof and so yes, rain or shine. This photo was taken before the lights auto shut off at about 9PM. Lights went out and we stayed for another 20 mins or so before continuing the ride. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...3d5a6c582f.jpg |
I’ve always wanted to visit Austin. Looks like a good turnout for the event. The ACA Texas Hill Country Route is on my bucket list.

I have not tried this... but it looks like the dog likes it:
|
Installed a Topeak front basket. It’s fairly small, but so is my pup. Easy to install, but a little too bouncy, such that every small bump is exaggerated. I’ll see if a strap will help stabilize the basket or else it will be returned. The puppy liked it a lot, but wanted to climb out all the time, so I’ll have to clip her in somehow with a harness. The basket simply comes off the mount making removal a cinch.

I built a bike specifically to haul my blind, old 18lb dog around town in. Used a Surly Pack Rat frame and had a 20" fork and rack custom built by some guys in Seattle, WA. I've since changed to flat bars and swapped the wire basket out for a larger bus bin. How's the original dachshund in question doing? |
|
where'd you get the goggles for your dog, and when do you use them? did you have to train him/her to get use to wearing them? Thanks
