I check my tiers daily, as there is glass everywhere on my commute. Then at lest oncie a week I clean them then squeeze Shoe Goo -in the cuts.

Superficial inspections all the time, mainly looking for bulges, cuts or something obvious stuck in the tire. Really close with a magnifying glass or reading glasses, I'd say practically never. Except when I'm fixing a flat that I can't explain otherwise.

After every ride. If i sense i went over something sharp, later that day I would deflate the tire to take it out. It probably makes no sense but i'm kind of ocd about flats

I check mine every time there is a new tire thread on BF...so about 3 times a day.

was topping off my tires w air last night, cuz I rode to work today. noticed the tire rub from a few weeks ago (6-14-19) (as a result of a broken spoke) caused some excessive sidewall wear, creating a flat spot & exposing some underlying cords/threads! disappointed I didn't notice it before yesterday & that the LBS owner that replaced the spoke & trued the wheel, didn't either, or did, but didn't mention it? anyway, put on a thin layer of Powerflex Ultra Control Gel Super Glue 3g by Loctite (rubber infused formula) & ordered a replacement tire. I can swap that on this weekend. but I really did want to ride today & it was fine

I put a couple thousand miles on some Kenda Kwests, they have a light tread and were always getting little sharp rocks stuck in them that would eventually wear through. I was checking them almost every day. I swear I get less punctures running light, flimsy sidewall, slick or file tread, non-armored tires. “Supple”. I haven’t had a flat in several months, maybe 1,000 miles. Since I mention it now I’m sure I’m due for one, and my mini pump is currently out of commission. Hmm.

Usually before every ride. Maybe 10 seconds each for a quick once over. Tubeless or tubed.

Almost never unless I am changing something or adding air.

I see this as an opportunity for improvement for me

I suspect it would be fair to say the same is true for the vast majority of cyclists, including, even, bikeforums folks. We don't check our tires well enough or often enough. I already do an ABC Quick Check every time I get on. The habit is so ingrained that I don't notice I'm doing it, so maybe I can make a habit of tire checks, though I don't think it's necessary to do on every ride.

Great link! And I will have to start getting better about my tires - I now have a CX/Adventure bike with tubular tires - hate to ruin one of those by taking off with a thorn in it which could have been removed pre-ride!

When checking my tire pressures once a week (on my commuter Velomobile) I check my wheels for trueness, check and clean my tire treads of debris, and check my spokes for breakage or looseness. On my mountain bikes or regular road bike I rarely check the tires for debris, they are tubeless and rarely get a flat.

I also commute in a velomobile, and a recumbent. :) I check weekly. Every sunday evening, I go spend ~20 minutes in the garage putting air in the tires, giving them a quick (about 90 secs/tire) check of the tread and walls, air in the airhorn, air in the shocks, and a quick wipedown of the large surfaces.
