well no more rideing for me

for a few years my vision was off. at first i just assumed my light bulbs need to be brighter i couldnt build computers any more since i just didnt see clear enough. then it seemed if i was seeing double. which succked i couldnt even enjoy tv and it was hard to read print. then it seemed as if my glasses had a pice of dirt on them but when i took my glasses off i still saw the dirt ive walked in front of a few cars. i went to eye dr today i forgot what they called it but im stuck with it if i understood them

Sorry to hear that, friend. If there are no affordable alternatives, could you partner with someone and ride tandem?

SalsaShark 09-20-19 07:40 PM

If you have Keratoconus (which shows similar symptoms) like i do, contact lenses may be a solution. I see double and triple blurred vision with glasses, and had a lot of trouble seeing when it was dark with lights reflecting in all directions through my cornea. The contact lenses cover your irregularly shaped cornea and fill in the gaps with your natural eye lubricants, giving a nice evenly curved shape for the light to focus through, offering a remedy to the blurred images, and also helping a bit with the light sensitive issues.
Maybe this will help - good luck.

its called posterior vitreous detachment but with me it is right in midle of eye i try to move eyes and head around to read but sometimes it just dont work and the other day i was crossing street i didnt see anything comeing but then at last moment i saw what apered to be movement and it was a car 1 second latter id be flat

Is your doc telling you the condition is permanent? I don't think it is for most people who suffer from it. If you've only seen a regular eye doctor, get yourself to a retina specialist ASAP.

I had two retinal tears last year about two or three weeks apart. It sucked. Both times enough blood entered my vitreous that my vision was completely obscured in that eye for several days, and then severely occluded for weeks. I honestly felt pretty awful and helpless at first, but I had a good retina doctor and I have more or less normal vision (with some staining on the back of my vitreous).

Hoping for the best possible outcome for you. Please get a second or third opinion (or more). It looks like there are treatments for PVD. Of course every case is different.

rumrunn6 09-23-19 09:54 AM

sorry to hear this. how long you been riding?

Darth Lefty 09-23-19 11:05 AM

I'm sorry, man. Riding a bicycle would seem like the least of the troubles

noobinsf 09-26-19 04:20 PM

A quick google search says that posterior vitreous detachment is treatable and "rarely leads to permanent loss of vision." See a specialist and get more opinions now!

@windchaser, I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I can't even imagine what you're going through, but I hope you are able to come out the other side.

{{{hugs}}}

Fight on and beat this, Windy! You have everyone's support and thoughts here at BF!

billyymc 10-02-19 06:47 AM

Dude, have you been to a Retina specialist or not? If not, go now. From the info you've provided it seems like your condition is treatable but you HAVE to go to a retina doc, not just a regular eye doctor.

Or you could keep posting here about it.

windhchaser 10-02-19 08:24 AM

the eye dr was well not very nice she would say something then id answer her and then she would tell me not to talk she said it as if she was pretty angry.i was kinda of afraid to ask her anything. but no one said it was treateable i will googl it some more. it is even hard to rea but if i move my head around a lot while reading i can see the words. but it mostly seems as if there is something on my glasses many times i see something move so ill loook in that direction then id notice it is a human. im hopeing they dont get mad thinking im stareing at them

Juan Foote 10-02-19 08:51 AM

I'd go see a different eye dr. It's worth it to get a second opinion anyway, but find one that is more interactive and will answer your questions.

Bicycle2Work 10-08-19 11:19 AM

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope the doctors can figure something out to help your vision, and get you back on the bicycle.
