That's it, I'm bringing in backup clothes.

So I got to work and realized I forgot my button down. Then I realized that my undershirt had a big stain on it. Luckily, I found this brand new polo shirt lying around a bunch of old trade show stuff in storage. Tomorrow, I'm bringing in an old pair of pants and shirt to keep at work. Just in case.

I forgot to bring shoes today. So I can either clomp around in my shiny silver Specialized, or walk around in socks. Today I'm glad that I spend most of my time in front of a computer.

I haven't forgotten shirt or pants yet but many is the time I have been happy to have a little cache of underwear and socks. I actually already kept a white dress shirt at work for more formal days, but some backup clothes are definitely a good idea.

If you pack your bag before you go to bed, you are less likely to forget an essential item. Your head will be clearer and you won't be in a rush to get out the door.

My spare clothes have dwindled to an old pair of pants that have been in there for a couple of months. Gotta take them home for a wash ...

I keep a pair of not too old sneakers, a pair of shorts, and a T-shirt at work in case I get soaked on the ride in or in the event something should happen at work.

I have to do that with my scuba gear. There is nothing like getting up at 4:30AM and paying $100 for a long boat ride and realising you forgot a $40 yet totally essential peice of gear.

I'd say I'm equally woolen-headed all day.

Seriously, I find it helps too, but it rarely happens.

That's weird... I had a dream last night that I got almost all the way to work and remembered I hadn't packed any clothes. I woke up in a slight panic.

The scuba comment is true, too... 3 weeks ago I arrived at a (local, fortunately) dive site with my HP steel 120 (DIN valve) with a yoke on my first stage. No divey for me. I'm a DM, too, so it was pretty embarrassing. (Just a recreational dive with friends...)

So far I have only forgotten a pair of socks. and that after my cycling socks were rinsed so they would not stink upon the return trip..So, I put the wet cycling socks adjacent an air return duct and they dried pretty fast. I went sockless in Dockers and work shoes for only a couple hours.Tried to keep my legs straight so the pants would not ride up..
I had taken my cycling 'beer socks.' not quite the right thing to wear at work. plus the exposed skin from the ankle socks.

Yup - it takes only once, sometimes twice (in my case) to be sure I have a backup set in the bottom drawer of my monstrously huge filing cabinet. Mondays I pack two backpacks and do a 'twofer' day, riding to work, dropping one off, riding back home, picking up second backpack, both packed with clothes. Makes the other days lighter, AND more fun on Mondays!

Yup. I did that this month. It sucks. So, yes, back up clothes are in the drawer...as insurance, I'm sure.

The night before a dive, we all lay out our scuba equipment on the floor and inspect each others "diver scarecrow". Never missed a part yet. Broke a part during a dive, but never forgot a part!

I used to get dressed in the dark, and by accident took the white shirt I work on my car in instead of a nice white dress shirt. Fortunately, Mervyns was not too far away!

I keep extra underwear and t-shirt at work. Not fancy, but in an emergency...

Hate to inconvenience her. but, my wife is within reasonable driving distance. I would hope she might rescue, before they sent me home from work for not having proper work dress. If I had a temporary set back with no clothes; I always carrry a light weight nylon knee length shorts along with a t shirt in my panniers before I get stuck.
also, use them for going into stores- so as to reduce eveyrone's discomfort. But showing off a helmet and visible bike jersey usually strikes up conversations, usually positive.

Granted, I'm usually still sweating a bit as the bathrooms are too warm for me to cool off quickly in. I'm sure it's even worse at places where most people where ties. I can get away with any collared shirt thankfully.

To be on topic though. I've forgotten underwear twice now, both times because I packed in a rush on a Monday morning. There's a few department stores nearby should I ever forget something visible (my sweaty jersey would not work very well nor would my MTB baggies).

I need to start keeping a full set of clothes at work for backup.

Jeans,
t-shirt (longsleeve t in winter)
socks
underwear

Sometimes I get stupid drenched.

As for shoes, I have to switch shoes when I go in anyways, as my work requires static-dissipative footwear, and you really are supposed to avoid going outside in shoes like that, since you have to wash teh soles everytime, to assure they make good contact with the floor (electronic cleanrooms are a pain in the a--)

I might also buy a second anti-static jacket in case water does find it's way inside my pack...they are only $35, plus with how worn my current one is, I need to buy a new one anyways.

Ok, I took a spare pair of pants and shirt to work, just in case.

Someone a while ago mentioned rotating clothes.
You wear a set on monday. Leave them at work.
Bring a new set on tuesday, wear it. Bring the set from monday home.
Bring a new set on wednesday, wear it. Bring the set from tuesday home.
That way, if you forget, you at least have clothes from yesterday.

I scored an old gym locker at a garage sale this weekend for 10 bucks. I hauled it in to the office and put it in the computer network room. Now I've got a place for my Wet Ones, some D.O. and a spare stash of undies, socks, shoes, etc. etc. etc. etc. I even stuck a spare floor pump that was on sale at Nashbar in there. I'm in Phat City, Baby!!

I totally forgot to bring in clothes today.

Woke up late, ran out the door and onto the bike with the same clothes from last night on.

Then it started raining, and I got soaked. Then it got sunny, and I started sweatin'.

Had to spend the workday walking around in my riding gear (which had accumulated that stinky sweat smell around the neckband - smelled it all day long.)

Think If I had your dilema, I would wait and go out and stand in the rain. might help a little. Lycra dries quickly? but, would not want to be in that situation. never hear the end of it.
