Looks great. I am searching for my all around, do everything bike: Commuter/day tripper/touring and looked briefly at the Sutra. Did you buy a frameset and build up the rest yourself? Your set up is pretty much along the line as what I am planning.

Any problems with toe strike on the front wheel? How do you think the bike would do loaded front and back on an extended tour? What is your frame size and how tall are you?

Questions questions...

Yes, I bought a frameset and built it up myself.

As for heal strike I haven't had any issues yet. While turning I bumped the fender once, but I've done that on every bike I've ever had with fenders.

As for stability I would recomend moving the adjustable dropouts all the way to the back to increase stability. I've loaded my Sutra up with about 15kg on one side and felt that it was rather stable. As for a front rack it's hard to say, I've never used one.

The geometry is like no other bike I've ridden before. At first it felt very strange, not like a standard road bike which I'm used to. After about 10km I fell in love with it. I think the strange geometry is due to Kona's heritage as a mountain bike maker, as it leans a bit towards MTB geometry.

All in all it think it's a wonderful ride.

EDIT: I'm 183cm and the frame is 58cm.

Nice.
I was really looking at one of these and got talked out of it which I really regretted tonight on the way home. I could have used some touring gearing.
Can you comment on whether you had any issues fitting the rack and what the overall weight ended up as (if you know or care)?
Great to see a Sutra out there. I may still end up w/ one someday.

The rack took some fiddling and adjusting to fit, but was no major hassle. The main problem was the bottom support bar on the Jandd rack. I think a Blackburn would have fit better.

As for weight I have no idea. It's a touring bike; weight, schmeight!

I had an Old Man Mountain on my Dew and I have one on my current bike. That's some serious rackage.
