Bike computer recommendation
 

I'd like to have a computer that shows the speed, temperature, time, and my heart rate.

I have a Garmin HRM-DUAL heart rate monitor belt, which uses ANT+.

I don't need GPS or any of the more high end features you see on Edge 830 and so on. I'm aware that an Edge 830 can be just configured to show me exactly what I want, but I find it too expensive for what I need.

Any suggestions?

Garmin 130 ?

I purchased the garmin 130 plus for the gf. You can sometimes find it on sale. She likes it a lot.

I know Cateye makes a non gps bike computer that does speed and distance not sure about the other features you require. For just a little more money you can probably find a garmin 130 or 130 plus that does everyone you want plus more.

You might want gps to show your saved routes like on strava or even garmin. Some people think of GPS as map routing only but GPS is actually good for speed, distance and saving/plotting your past rides.

if I had to have a basic it would be the Garmin 130. I have the 1030 and love it. i have had some issues with it last week but seem to be getting them sorted now. I am a garmin fan no doubt but yeah if budget were an issue I would go 130 for sure.

I have the 1030+. Love it it for map routing. I need the larger screen size with my so/so eyes. ha-ha

that is why I got the 1030 two years ago, couldn't see all the power I wasn't putting out. If I would have waited I could have had the plus version but I just missed that.

How about the XOSS G+? Don't think it does temperature, but it's certainly affordable.

Another vote for the Garmin 130 Plus. I like the size. And watch for vendors selling NOS Garmin 130's -- the "Plus" model is a significant upgrade.

I still think Garmin has the best ecosystem (Connect), so the Edge 130 for a budget computer. I have used a Bryton computer in the past too that worked just fine if you're on a tighter budget, but it does use a propriety mount (not compatible with Garmin or Wahoo).

There are also lots of Chinese computer available in the $40-80 range, but my issue there is that their mobile apps to auto sync to Stava and such have real questions about data privacy that are not worth the cost savings in my opinion, but you could just use them the old way with a USB cable sync.

for 400.00 the Karoo 2 is a good choice.

The Garmin Edge 130 sounds interesting, but I see some people complaining it only updates the temperature every 5 minutes?

The temperature is actually pretty important to me, I'd like to get some feel for how likely it is to encounter black ice on my commute. Not that I'd rely entirely on temperature of course, but it is one of the things I'd consider and I'd like it to be at least somewhat accurate.

I got the new Wahoo Bolt 2, and found the temperature sensor was WAY off. I contacted them about it, and they didn't seem to care at all. Excellent GPS, but awful temperature sensor. Which is really odd, since highly accurate sensors are dirt cheap.
