Hexlox - wheel theft prevention
Does anyone have experience with the Hexlox 'bike wheel nut security'?
I have track nuts on my bike with a little bit of axle sticking out when I tighten them against the frame, would I run out of thread if I were to try to put the hexlox security nuts on? Also do they have integrated washers on them https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...d09803af90.png |
I've used Hexlox on my wheels and various other parts for two years now. I have the Hexnuts on my SS and skewers on one of my road bikes. As long as you can thread a regular bolt onto your axle, the Hexnut should fit. They come with separate spacers. I only run Hexnuts on my front wheel but you can do both if you want. I've been happy with the Hexlox system on all four of my bikes.
I will say that if you are in an area with lots of rain or snow, you should take the Hexlox (the bit that protects the Hexnuts from being accessed) out every once in a while. Otherwise, they become a bit stuck and can be difficult to remove. I stripped a key trying to remove a stuck Hexlox from a wheel. I've also drilled out a Hexlox from a bolt for fun; took about 7 minutes and they do not come out easy. I recommend Hexlox. |
The amount an axle sticks out is pretty standard... though it might not seem that way because there are many standards. Just make sure you have the right one.
