Commuting with stitches

Well I have a stab wound in my hand and after fiddling around with different things on the front end I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I thought of maybe a set of cheap aeros and just using that, anything else?

Ouch!! Maybe aeros would work but I would still want to be very careful of the stiches. Can you raise your bars at all to get some weight off your hands? If it's a newer bike, probably not. I don't know where you got your stiches, but it might also work to get one of of those over-the-counter wrist braces the drugstores sell. That would immobilize (sp?) your hand somewhat and probably protect it a little bit, too.

Sorry to hear you got hurt. Get well soon and good luck.

Ummm how to explain

Well you know the creases in your palms where your hands bend? It is in that top one...like right where the hand bends...so its hard to grip the bars

I advise against the aero bars. They take some getting used to and are not considered maneuverable. Here is my suggestion: Buy some velcro from a sewing store. Put some on a glove, in the heel of your hand position, and then on your bars. Put lots on both places to give you maximum control and lots of hand positions.

Good luck and get well soon.

If you don't wear gloves, start. If your bars are wrapped, wrap them. Now rais the stem so that you can sit comfortably in the saddle without your hands supporting any of your weight, simply providing balance. This will probably be right around equal height or maybe even with the stem a centimeter or two higher. It may be useful to get some swept back cruiser bars.

I've ridden with stitches in my hand, but not on the palm. Good luck.

Yeah one way to go might be to go really upright for a while, raise that stem and maybe stick some little old lady bars on there.
