I bought these on your recommendation. I've used them only one day so far, but I can say that they didn't slip and felt pretty comfortable. Thank you! They seem much nicer than the bands I've been using which don't look radically different, but these white ones are made by someone who did some better design and testing.

Change of cloths. My ride to work is somewhat challenging (only 4+ miles, but over 700' climbing) and I'm a heavy sweater, so a change of cloths is a must for me. I wear cycling/spandex shorts under thin/technical/MTB cycling shorts. Long spandex tights in the winter. On top, it's a t-shirt, with light shell jacket if cool. I change into business casual clothes after I arrive and cool off. I'm at work ~30-40 minutes before I have to be presentable. It takes me 5-6 minutes to walk from my classroom to the bathroom, change cloths, drop by the office, pick up my attendance log, and meet the class on the yard.

I might end up doing that, but for some reason, I don't like changing clothes. Maybe I'll get used to it. Remind us what you teach?

Right now, I'm in grad school, and there is no place there to store anything. I have to carry everything. Changing would be a pain, but it's OK. I don't sweat heavily.

@noglider I teach 4th grade, sometimes 4th & 5th together. I’m fortunate that I have some extra cabinet space and a place to park my bike in the classroom during the day.

Sorry I forgot that. Very nice. I'm headed to teaching special ed in grades 7 through 12. I don't know where I'll end up, but last year by happenstance, I ended up teaching English in 4th grade. Not what I was aiming for, but I loved it. A former student of mine just sent me a text (through his mother) thanking me for the extra attention I gave him. It's been 10 months since I saw those kids.

My mom chose 3rd and 4th grades. She said they're old enough to be interesting and fun, but by 5th grade they're already starting to act like know-it-alls and were big enough to hurt her even by accident.

When my daughter was that age, she told me many times: "Enjoy this time. This is a good age." Stanzi had been good ever since about age 4, so I didn't know what she was talking about. Now, she's 13 and can be a real PITA. Definitely a know-it-all.

I used various velcro bands, elastic bands, rubber bands, metal clips, old toe straps. But those were all a hassle in at least one way. I either tuck into my socks if they're long enough or I just roll up my cuff. Simple. Works whether I'm wearing jeans or a suit. No extra anything required.

I don't recommend the slap-type (metal spring band inside a plastic sleeve) at all. I tried a couple including name-brand Nathan, and they did not last much more than a year, due to the plastic sleeve splitting. I'm currently using some Jogalites from a Performance Bike closeout, simple plastic reflective with a fabric liner and velcro. If they wear out, I'll try the Leg Shields. Looks like a good recommendation.

Now that the weather is warmer, I'm wearing shorts on my rides at temperatures down to 65ºF (18ºC). I should be wearing my trouser bands for the reflectivity. Maybe I will. But I haven't done it yet.

The Decthlon´s is the best that i found for biking, it is very comfortable, easy to wear beside the bike in the sidewalk, it worths for conmuting, warmly in Winter, almost fresh in summer, very clean, …,very well

For equestrianism there are much better, in really leather, well done, very nice, with horses but that i tried in stores are dificult to put on.

The Decthlon´s is the best that i found for biking, it is very comfortable, easy to wear beside the bike in the sidewalk, it worths for conmuting, warmly in Winter, almost fresh in summer, very clean, …,very well

Leisesturm I want to thank you again for the trouser band recommendation. I've used them a lot now. They seem to be made of neoprene or something like that. They're slightly elastic, and the insides create enough friction against my trousers. They look like they're very reflective, too, though I haven't tested that.

Different bands have different shapes. I have a pair I got as a pre-teen that are sublime. Many pairs are "only if I really have to" uncomfortable. About 5 years ago I found a pair that are pretty good. They don't have reflective properties (or the area is very small) but with good fit, work very well and are easy to carry and put on and carry nicely in any pockets including full dress pants.

Now at night, I second Trahak. Good, bright either reflecting or light going up and down simply works. Nothing else out there does that. People see it even if they are not consciously aware. (I used the French Wonderlight on my ankle or calf for decades. Not ideal for comfort, 2 C size batteries so poor run time 'til Durace hit the scene. My ankles took a beating - especially on the fix gear; I had to stuff material under the spring to keep it from getting compressed. A lot of compromises but ... I lived just outside Boston, commuted in for years with no car. Back before bike paths. And I"m here.)

My commuting mantra has always been: Don't commute in your work clothes or work in your commuting clothes. There are presentable sports pants that have side zippers that take away that overlap eliminating the need for any kind of strap. I have 3 pair. The only concession is making sure you put you socks on before your pants.
