i've decided to become a commuter

i'm so tired of the increasing gas prices, stop and go traffic, and polluting the environment that i've decided to commute to work. Its a 17 mile round trip with a few 1/2 to 1 mile climbs nothing too terrible but one is about 8% grade. the only reason i didn't start commuting earlier was because of my early start time, i'm going to have to leave the house at 530am. well it's time for me to make a difference and save the world here are the 2 bikes i'm planning on commuting with

Welcome to the club.

I"m sure you will enjoy commuting to work.

I started commuting for the very same reasons you mentioned.

Good luck and keep us posted of how it goes.

Nice bike by the way.

Congrats. Once you get over being sore and all of that stuff, you'll love it. Its so much more peaceful than driving.

Get good lights if you don't have them already. At the very least, be seen. If you can afford it after that, good "seeing" lights. You can get into HID for about $170 these days, but that's not necessary; you can get a nice system for < $100 if you look around.

Congrats! I hit the road at "only" 6:30ish in the morning... but I come back at 7:30ish. Lights are a Good Thing(TM). Don't skimp and you won't regret it. Seeing as you have a vast jealousy-inspiring bike collection in your sig, I think you won't mind laying out the dough. Oh, but I see only one bike pic.

I'm starting to see why I have the perspective that waking up at 7:30 to get to my 8am classes isn't early. Compared to the real working world I'm sleeping in. All of my friends think I'm nuts for getting all 8am classes but they are gonna be in for a shock when they get a job. Welcome to the club. It's an amazing feeling when you realize that your comute used to be a chore but now is a journey. Have fun!
