My first ride in the rain
 

I'm new to these forums, and I've only been commuting regularly since about mid-June. Right now I ride the bus to work and bike 6 miles home at the end of the day, mostly because I don't currently have access to showering facilities at work and don't like being smelly around my coworkers. Still, it's a pretty significant change for someone who hasn't done any regular exercise in years.

Anyway, last night was my first night riding home in steady rain, and I enjoyed it. Even though I was soaked by the end, it was satisfying knowing the rain won't stop me from riding home everyday (and seeing as how I live in Oregon, that's important).

I also got to try out my Arkel Bug pannier last night. After reading a few reviews on these forums, I decided it was worth the expense. It sure is a relief not to have to wear a full backpack while riding home.

Steeef -- welcome to the duck club!! I think you will find many riders here who take perverse pleasure in riding through the rain. Glad to hear you enjoyed it and before long you'll be extolling the virtues of riding in the rain like the rest of us mutants.
