Mounting Cateye TL-1000 to fat seatpost
I can't imagine I'm the only one with this problem...
I just bought the TL-1000 taillight online, and now I find that the mounting bracket is way too small for my seatpost. Is there any way to get that sucker on there? I heard someone mention zipties but I don't see any place for the zipties to go through. It's got to be stable. I will be mad if I have to special order a stupid part just because the mounting bracket cateye sent is for a kid's bike. Heck, I have a 10 dollar mini light from the LBS with a more intelligent mounting system. Gah. Thanks. |
I JUST experienced this for myself this evening..... I ended up using the front of my OMM rack... it works but I DO NOT like it.... I'm gonna do some drilling tomorrow on the rack and make a nice place to bolt on the mount on the back of the rack. The performance flare is worse... It's gonna be tricky trying to figure out how to mount it.... it's diameter is smaller than the cateye!!!!!!

Instead of using the screw to get the clamp to go on the seatpost, just leave it open and zip tie the sucker shut.

doesn't that thing come with two bracket sizes-- big and small... i assume you're trying with the big one already

how fat is the seat post are we talking about here? |
I assume we are talking about the TLD-1000? I am thinking of getting one (TLD-1000) but need to attach it to the back of my rack. I currently have a Vista Nebula-5 led light. It is able to fit just fine on the back of my Delta rack. Has anyone attached one of these TLD-1000's to a rear Delta rack?
Thanks! Keep Cycling! |
I have the TL-LD1000 and had to get a new clamp for my 30.9 seatpost. pissed that i had to buy one but its only $1.20 from the cateye website. received it within a couple of days.

I just picked up a pair of TL-LD1000's yesterday and ran into the same problem. It latched on to the road bike without any issues, but the comfort/cruiser didn't fit what so ever. Thanks for the link, I just ordered the 30.9 bracket.

I used some old refector brackets to fit mine. It took some doing to angle them right.

When they first came out I paid 36 bucks. Now down to 25 bucks. Give it time.

I've bought that light twice now. Only own one. Use zip ties! Their bracket mechanisms aren't (for me) secure over rough roads. Great light, though.
